THE GIVE HOPE GROUP

ONGATA RONGAI

KAJIADO DISTRICT

KENYA

Dear Friends,

I have come to the United States briefly to visit family members and hopefully raise some money for the Give Hope Group.  While here, I am taking advantage of the chance to learn how to put together power point presentations and to send photographs to publicize our work.   While I am away from Kenya, Priscilla and the other committee members are continuing with the Give Hope work and we keep in contact via email.

Here you  see a picture of our devoted and hard-working Chairperson, Priscilla.  She is on the left, the lady with the big, wide smile.  Priscilla is a person of boundless energy, most of which she uses to help others.  Behind her is Marion, a little mentally handicapped girl, whom we have been assisting for many years and on the right, Marion’s grandmother.

This picture  is of Kamau.  The sad news is that Kamau passed away in June.  He was suffering from muscular dystrophy. Of course, we knew that his life would not be long but we didn’t think he would leave us so soon.  The picture was taken in 2005 in better times.  We had taken Kamau to a special boarding school where he was very happy and doing well.  The photo was taken during the school vacation.  The boy pushing him was his younger brother James and the two of them were devoted to each other.

The above three photos are of Paul.  Paul’s mother (pictured) brought him to us in 2004.  He had been born club footed (photo above.) He was operated on in January 2005 and the middle photo shows him later that year, non too happy with his plaster.  A short time later, he was out of the plaster: the third photo shows him sleeping in his mother’s arms, his feet now like any other boy’s.
