Some one else said earlier, that the best advice was to never discuss politics and religion, lest friends be lost. I once adhered to that philosophy, but not since those who would see this country destroyed would elect this soulless traitor president of this country.

The memory of 58.000 now only remembered on a black marble wall and in the memory of a beleaguered generation demand more than that from those of us who remember.

They gave the last full measure to protect our future. Can we in good conscience do anything less than fight to see the truth prevail?

Welcome, I'm new here too, this is a great bunch of american's. Bass Pro has just been added to my boycot list and my husband has been made aware to pass Bass Pro's attitude along to friends and to mention it to the VFW members.

For the same reason, and others like Iwo Jima, Korea, Siapan, Omaha Beach, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ardennes, Sicily, and the WTC, I speak up too.

I got tossed off the Washington Post forum for defending President Bush. How is that for fair and balanced.

I think we've all heard that about religion and politics... I'm beginning to think a communist /atheist started that ..... it's probably what has gotten us into this mess !!! with Kerry and with God being taken out of our schools, public areas etc.... I hear that stratigist Ellis Hennigan sayig - he's a Catholic.... and we should keep our religion at home.... well, I was raised a Cahtolic and I don't remember learning that! the bible doesn't tell us that - but it's a good 'game' for the atheist to gain ground on our wonderful country. and the communists... We've really got to learn from this and STOP being quiet about both politics and religion.
I also have a life long (well since I was 19) friend (who is supposed to be a Christian) who is voting for Kerry - she says Bush is to 'arrogant' I do think people get that from the way he walks - in a suit I notice it - it's gotta be the conbination of his 'swagger' (walking), the bullet proof vest and being uncomfortable in a suit ! I just don't know how she can justify it.... tho, her husband will vote for bush and cancel her out. She says they have always done that, so she must always vote democrat. she won't talk to me about it (thank goodness we are 3000 miles apart right now) but I do email her.... and will continue to thru the election and if she doesn't want to talk after that, that'll be her choice. I thought it over 'a life long friendship' vs ' politics'? no, it comes down to my core values ! We raised our kids together and I know she is a good, moral, bible believing person but she's just different on this issue. Sad

I look forward to contributing my thought to this forum as time is available. I sincerely thank everyone that is involved in Swift boat veterans for truth and the efforts and sacrifices that each and everyone has made. Both then and now they have served and honored America. Don't give up the fight! America is watching and America is listening.

Semper Fi.
Not only a "welcome" from this non-vet, but a thankful: "Welcome Home".

I visit a musician forum occasionally were politics is allowed in one section only for "supporting" members of which I am one. It is dominated by Democrat-leaners whom disparage President Bush, and make snide comments to those that are conservative and support not only the Troops but, The Mission as well.
They started a Swift Vet thread and were just rippin' the Swiftees up one and down the other. Then I showed up, having read "Unfit for Command", and the many articles compiled here regarding Veterans of our Armed Forces. It was easy to refute their puny attempts to bombard me with links to "articles that dis-prove" the Swiftees, but I was, without even refering to the book able to dis-semble their arguments. But it got vicious, and lame, to the point of being too time consuming to have to read countless threads & links to articles in order to counter those ultra-bloggers.
On top of that, how could I discuss musicianship with these same people in the music related forums when they were so insulting in the political forums? In the end, I couldn't and just started hanging out here.

(At least i think i'm welcome here.)

Same thing happened to me, in a music forum. I've supported a band for several years and participated on their message boards. Several months ago I started a Presidential Election thread to discuss the candidates, debates, etc. The participants were college age and I am much older so at first I tried to ignore the personal attacks that came with every reply to my posts thinking it was just youth of 'today'. My posts were respectful and lacked any of the swearing, insults and personal attacks that I was having to deal with continuously. At first I was using and linking the swiftboat message and was visciously attacked for it. I started dropping the reference to SBVT, but continued on with spreading only the message. There are now nearly 5,000 posts on this one thread and after the second admonishment by a moderator, who suggested that I go find a more right-biased/pro-Bush site, I left. Fortunately I was able to post a final message making it clear that I was being singled out due to my opposing stance. I have not posted since, but occasionally review the site. A few other newbies have come along and attempted to take a pro-Bush/anti-Kerry stance and have had to leave for the same reason.

This is one of the much 'nicer' replies I received:
My post: " And we all know what happened to the troups and how they suffered the last time Kerry 'protested', why should things be any different now?"

Reply:
"Stop with all the damn swiftboat "John Kerry is a communist traitor" ****. The last time Kerry "protested" probably resulted in our troops coming back from V______ alot sooner than they would have..

Do me a favor, find information about John O'Neil. For instance what exactly is his beef with John Kerry, and how he became a prominent figure in the 1970s. It's been alluded to on the boards before. If you still view him as some sort of God, go ahead but enough with the swiftboat rhetoric. "

I'm glad you all have posted your experiences, at least I know I'm not the only one. Thank you!

Kimberly

Thanks for the heads up on Bass Pro Shops, I am a very avid fisherman and there is a Bass Pro Shop in my neighborhood. I will NOT be doing any business there again. I will however stop in and let them know that they are going to lose some customers and I will be spreading the word to all of my fishing contacts.

WELCOME Trickworm Razz I too have encountered trouble because I refused to remain silent and go along with the majority consensus on political subjects. I left one Forum voluntarily because of that and was Banned from another. But if we do not have the courage to stand up and speak out for our convictions then we are not very good Americans in my opinion. It is my understanding that this Forum will be closing after the election as its sole function is to alert America to John Kerry's activites that harmed the Vietnam Vets. So I will put your Forum on my List of new Forums to join after the election is over. I don't have to fish to join, do I? Laughing

NO FC, its not a fishing forum. Although there are fishing forums in the main forum. Along with hunting and little of of everything that might interest someone. I did not realize that this forum will be closing after the election. That will leave a lot of folks (it seems) in search of a new home.

That is my understanding. One of the Admin posted to that effect last week. So I am looking for a Forum where I can post AND be an out of the closet Republican Conservative without always having to defend myself. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes But I don't fish or hunt. I looked and saw that you have a general Chat section so I could participate in that as well as the political one and I have a ton of jokes. Very Happy I imagine you will be seeing me there. Razz
