The Weekly Reader is geared for different ages. They have different versions. (Or maybe the high school seniors are reading the fifth grade version, and they are the ones voting for Kerry.)

Is this correct that the WR has been correct since 1956? I seem to remember that Dole won the WR poll in the Clinton/Dole election. I hopw I am wrong, I may be hinking of another grade school poll.

Explains allot about the loonies!

Kimmymac:

That's what Weekly Reader claims on their website - that they've been correct every Presidential election since 1956.

SO RIGHT. Johnson's War on Poverty introduced the age of
runaway entitlement programs that can never be scaled back.
Has really caused division in this country.
Over time, the Libs have continuously expanded "handouts",
Thus making more and more people dependent on government.
This is how they lock in a large part of the electorate at the expense
of the productive working folks.
For all the programs the Libs have thrown money at over the years
they're still crying 'America has to do better!' (JKerry)
Creating dependency never solves a problem, just advances the
liberal agenda.

One of my husband's favorite sayings fits this perfectly: If you're robbing Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on the support of Paul.

And another hopeful sign: CNN/USAToday - today - results:

Bush: 51%
Kerry: 46%

hehe, and still CNN manages to say that the race is deadlocked.
Had it been the other way, we would have had it all over their website.

First thing we have to do after this election is to settle a score with the mainstream media garbage machine.

I recall the Weekly Reader fondly. I really looked forward to the day our teacher handed it out to us. As for the commentary on LBJ's "War on Poverty"...remember this.....the so called "poor" in the USA overwhelmingly live in homes/apartments with running water, sanitary systems. The so called "poor" in the USA overwhelming own the following...televisions (many more than one), telephones, refrigerators, cell phones, cars, air conditioners. The so called "poor" in the USA have more than enough to eat, true "hunger" ala the Sudan is simply unknown. Poor nourishment however, due to indulgence in snack foods, colas, candy, fast food etc. among the "poor" is due to our amazing wealth and easy access to food. The so called "poor" that use food stamps etc. obtain the above items with their stamps because they are given so much and they need not curtail their diets to the staples. The net net is the so called "poor" in the USA are lucky, because they are among the wealthiest people on this planet. The Lord has certainly blessed our land!
