"We have been working 24 hours a day trying to authenticate [the tape]," a senior ABCNEWS source said Wednesday morning.
The terrorist's face is concealed by a head dress, and he speaks in an American accent, making it difficult to identify the individual.
US intelligence officials believe the man on tape may be Adam Gadhan - aka Adam Pearlman, a California native who was highlighted by the FBI in May as an individual most likely to be involved in or have knowledge of the next al Qaeda attacks.
According to the FBI, Gadahn, 25, attended al-Qaida training camps and served as an al-Qaida translator.
The disturbing tape runs an hour -- the man simply identifies himself as 'Assam the American.'

| If you listen to Fox news they had a Fox by Brett he said that the tape says that there is going to be an enormous attack on the US greater than Sept. 11th. Blood with run in the streets. So tune into Fox. |

If Al Qaeda believes that by perpetrating an attack that voters will blame George W. Bush for going after the Taliban and Al Qaeda, they are sadly mistaken.
George W. Bush never attacked Al Qaeda prior to 9/11/2001, when THEY attacked US! Then a huge majority of Americans wanted revenge!
Maybe a lot of Americans have grown complacent, since there hasn't been another major attack for over three years. But if we were attacked again before the election, Kerry probably would get less than 30% of the vote, and Al Qaeda would have to deal with George W. Bush for four more years. This is not Spain!!!!

It shows we need to be vigilant and we are so close to the election that anything could happen.
I'm almost thinking this is s threat against us if we do elect Bush and I would look for something to happen after next Tuesday.

| Shouldn't the Homeland Security Terror alert status be raised? I know that this can potentially backfire against the administration. But the timing of this threat is obviously looking like a Madrid style attack to influence the election. It's a catch-22. Either way Kerry is going to draw a political angle on this. |

His every other word is we are not more secure and if he can spin this into an ad he will. Has he made any secret trips to California lately. It will be his mistake to try and I think the operative word in the threat that will be Taliban(9/11) will sink him if he tries.
