Here's a web site with some interesting information about a short-notice rally in D.C. -
Pulling It Off
How the Organizers Did It, on Five Day's Notice

And another...interesting...group -
White praised Capitol police officers. She'd been unable to get the required permits for the rally, but was pleasantly surprised when officers allowed her to stage the rally in a shaded "non-permit area." Later, she asked officers if she could stage a march around the Capitol.
"They didn't have to OK it, but they let us do it and even provided an escort," she said.
The police treated White respectfully, but were not as friendly to other pot people at the rally.

Oh, God...security... good link to the short-notice rally site, reminds one of the logistical challenge.
I just sent a message to Human Events editors begging for publicity!
I told them time TBA but that it looks like 1400...TBA due to the permit question, that is.
CAN I tell bloggers/Drudge/whomever that 1400 is it, or do you want it to wait? |

I've been lurking for weeks. Looks like time to act. I'll be there Sunday. I just got off the phone with 2 of my brothers from Baltimore, they will meet me and we'll take the metro into DC. We are trying to call, email everyone we know to get their buts there. We want to thank you all for everything that you are doing for our country. We are standing with you.
Thank you all,
M.A.T.

Water bottles...porta-potties...a few details....
Tell everyone to "go before they leave their motel" and "BYOB of water"
FYI - visited the sister that worked on Capitol Hill for the 4th of July one year....spent time on the lawn in front of the Capitol listening to music and watching fireworks.
We had a fun time, but it blew me away we couldn't find ANYTHING to eat nearby. No vendors, no MickieD's...we finally found a sub shop about a mile (ok, it felt like it...) away. Don't know if that's still the case or not...
So...add to the list...bring a sack lunch or eat before you leave. _________________ MJB

Keep focused, not only what we want to ACHIEVE, but how we'll be PERCEIVED ... that's a big part of this battle.
No pjs .. PLEASE .. we must present ourselves as PROFESSIONALS and concerned citizens. Otherwise the press and Kerry's henchmen will label us as "loonies" ... the LAST thing we need.
Only one theme - no anti-anything signs. This is only about Kerry's dishonoring veterans and service and his acts of treason against our country. Anti-Kerry as CIC is what this is about.
Thought -- We could create an illusion of a much bigger crowd by adopting a color theme .. all red shirts/blouses/scarves. Just a thought -- it actually works. |

Cipher,
When did anything get done waiting on a 'knife and fork' grad?
You're doing great. Carry on smartly and take care of the tummy.
Guess it's time to go to Best Buy.

I'm NOT going to be the commander in this skit.
Questions? |
Glad to hear it because we don't need a commander, we need a good NCO.
Near as I can tell, you Sir (I know, you work for your money) are the most qualified. No pressure. _________________ USMC res 3rd ANGLICO

right you are CLOSER.
keep dress business/casual {no different than in Sept}
Does anyone have a site or blog that we can use to set up information for outsiders to go to?
It wouldn't be good to have tons of people here if the site can crash. _________________ PROUD wife of Army ASA Vet - 66-70

I like the idea of red.
No horizontal stripes, though. It makes my hips look *gigantic*
Professional is the way to go. Dress to impress. Be prepared to talk to the press if they stick a mike in your face. Have something articulate to say. Write something down beforehand and memorize it, if you can't wing it comfortably.
We do NOT want to look like "those leftist moonbats". And if we don't, then we'll be able to spot them fairly easily.
Concur on the "no Anti" idea, *except*, we are AGAINST Kerry being elected. Personally, I couldn't care less who you want to vote for. As long as it's NOT Kerry, that's good enough for me.
I'd like to discourage ANY political signage of ANY kind that supports any particular candidate. The reasons are obvious.
The TRUTH is what counts. That is our aim, our goal, our mission. To get to the truth of the nature of Senator Kerry. And to do it in such as way as to make a SIGNIFICANT impact.
Otherwise, we're just going to be getting together for a walk in DC on a Sunday afternoon. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC
