My letter to Senators Wyden and Smith of Oregon

Quote:
Dear Senator Wyden

Do you not think it is about time that the members of the senate get off their butts, quit using the senate chambers a just a playground for the "Good ole boy's club" and grow up.

I think it is time for you people to reign in Senator Kennedy (D Mass) and put something in his mouth to shut him up in the remarks he continually makes that are really putting our troops in further harms way. It is one thing to disagree with the policies of the administration - but another to do what he is doing.

I fail to understand why you people continually protect him at the expence of your constituents. Who should come first? may I ask

It appears that the senator from Massachusetts has become nothing but a person whom appears to have his brains fried with alcohol

Disagree if you must, but please think of our troops, especilally our Oregon National Guardsmen who have sacrificed and done a superb job in Iraq.

I am a retired military man (1974 - after 24 years) and working with some returned Purple Heart recipients in a effort to making the the transition for our troops who will be returning over the next few months. We hope to get your support on that endeavor.

"defies logic"............key word, "logic". Gotta have it before you can act right. Nuff said on that.

If you had to listen to Teddie, Skerry and old Battle Axe, you'd leave the state, too. Then there's the taxes.........strike four.

Ted Kennedy is right when he says there is a simularity with the insurgents in Iraq, but it is not with our troops seeking the hearts and minds of the Iraqi's. The simularity is with the Democratic Party and the Ted Kennedys, the Barbra Boxers, the John Kerrys and the Mark Daytons in this country.

The insurgents offer the Iraqi people nothing other than that they are opposed to the course of action taken by the United States in Iraq. They offer no other forms of government, no other forms of security and no other path to peace. The exact position that the Democrats are taking in this country.

The mechanism for removing members of Congress from office for giving aid or comfort to an enemy of the United States has existed since the 14th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified in 1868.

Amendment 14, Section 3:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

In the case of Kerry, a petition signed by more than 200,000 persons was prepared and sent to the US Attorney General, the Senate Majority Leader and the Vice President asking that Kerry be removed under the provisions of the above Amendment. As far as I know, the petition is still in in-baskets and probably will not be acted upon.

The words of Kennedy are no less eggregious than those of Kerry and clearly are actionable under the Amendment. However, almost the whole of the Democrat minority have made similar utterances effectively giving comfort to the enemy. Do you remove nearly half of the Senate? WELL, WHY NOT?

Nothing is going to happen to this clown. He is a
Kennedy and until the people o of M*ass*achussetts dump the clod he will keep on being a fool. DNC has supported and defended him. Let him be a fool and broadcast it everywhere. As Rush says, "If someone wants to make a fool of himself, get out of the way and let him do it." He will flame out in the long run.

A reader of the PowerLine blog, Emidio Moglia, sent in this sentiment:

Ted Kennedy wants to assure the Iraqi people that, in no way, do we want to colonize Iraq. He wants to do this through the immediate withdrawal of 12,000 U.S. troops. Obviously, this elder statesman of the Democrat party has not yet made it to the top of the twelve steps. The problem is not the Iraqi people. The problem is the lunatic fringe of the Sunni Arab minority. Kennedy made his position known at a high profile event sponsored by the graduate school at Johns Hopkins. For him, two days before the Iraqi elections was perfect timing. For the poor soul standing in line to vote in the first ever free election in Iraq, the timing could not have been worse. The Sunni rebels are well supported by the twenty some Arab states who cannot conceive of holding free elections within their borders. To have a senator, who wears the Camelot colors of his brother, say that we are losing and should bug out is almost as good as a year's supply of roadside bombs.
