The AP reports GOOD NEWS!! (but leaves a little bit out of the story.....)

“Brothers Found Guilty of Terrorism Support”
by David Koenig, AP – 4/13/05

DALLAS - Three Dallas-area brothers were convicted Wednesday of supporting terrorism by funneling money to a high-ranking official in the militant Palestinian group Hamas. Ghassan and Bayan Elashi and their company were found guilty of all 21 federal counts they faced: conspiracy, money laundering and dealing in property of a terrorist. Basman Elashi, who faced the same counts, was convicted of three counts of conspiracy but acquitted of the other charges.

The brothers, all born in the Middle East, were convicted the same day jurors began deliberating, after nearly two weeks of testimony, and are to be sentenced Aug. 1. Prosecutors said each count carries a maximum 10-year prison sentence. "We hope it sends a message that we are going to vigorously pursue terrorists' assets," prosecutor Nathan Garrett said.

Ghassan Elashi, free pending sentencing, left without commenting.

Interesting that the AP does not mention CAIR in the above article – see David’s comment:

This story doesn't mention it, but Ghassan Elashi founded the Texas chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). You know, the group that controls what Americans must say and not say about Islam. "Brothers Found Guilty of Terrorism Support," from AP ……CONTINUED

BACKGROUND:
Quote:
discoverthenetwork profile of CAIR:

---Civil rights group partially funded by Saudi Wahhabi establishment
---Co-founder Nihad Awad declared in 1996, "I am in support of the Hamas movement."
---Board member Siraj Wahhaj served as character witness for 1993 World Trade City bombing conspirator Omar Abdel Rahman

CAIR is best described as a branch of the Saudi religious militia operating to impose Wahhabi conformity on American Islam. It is the most active and consistent promoter of extremism in the name of Islam now found the U.S. and Canada, an arm of the Saudi-Wahhabi establishment, partially funded by the Saudi government and rich Saudi subjects…..<….> CAIR should be considered a foreign-based subversive organization, comparable in the Islamist field to the Soviet-controlled Communist Party USA, and the Cuban-controlled front groups that infiltrated "Latin American solidarity" organizations in the U.S. during the 1980s. It has organized numerous community branches and has had immense success in gaining position as an "official" representative of Islam in the U.S. <......>

CAIR-Texas:
Quote:
“Lies, Misinformation and CAIR,” by Evan McCormick, FrontPageMag – 8/1/03
(excerpts)
…the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) had its assets frozen in December of 2001 for its suspected support of the terrorist group Hamas and deemed a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department. In defense of the group, CAIR stated that, “HLF has insisted that its social and health services have been extended to assist Palestinian orphans, widows, and poor persons irrespective of political views.” CAIR made no mention of the investigation of the HLF that had been ongoing since 1996, nor of public statements by officials involved in the operation regarding the charity’s support of Hamas. HLF’s claim of innocence was enough to elicit CAIR’s condemnation of the administration’s actions and it even compelled CAIR to denounce the investigation as a religiously motivated act of discrimination. .......

Ghassan Elashi, arrested in December of 2002 for dealing in the property of a designated terrorist, was a founder of the Holy Land Foundation and a member of the founding board of Directors of CAIR-Texas.
