You will be in basic in November... You will vote for whoever your D.I. tells you to vote for. You will not ask why... and you will only vote when told to do so.

Good luck!

Do not beleive that last statement...Your vote will count and you can vote for who you want..At least this time your vote may count..Not like the last election when here in florida the Dems and their kind tried to supress your vote..

inlikeflint...ACLU huh...Says allot to me...about who you are...

Quzar:

Are you going to great Lakes for boot? Did you get to choose any schools or a rating?

It seems like boot lasts forever but remember one day it will end. Very Happy

Please elaborate on your statement... I am not too sure I understand what you are suggesting.

This is absolute malarkey.

I don't know when you went through Navy Recruit Training, but the Navy respects its members right to vote for the candidates of their own choosing.

There is a push in Sept and Oct at almost every command to get members registered to vote in their homes of record and to get them to request absentee ballots if that home of record is not their current residence.

Quzar, welcome aboard, new shipmate! Fair winds and following seas as you begin a great adventure! I wish I could be in your shoes for just a few days - it was wonderful. It was difficult, but I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

You are not likely to be registered to vote at Great Lakes.

You can register to vote at your home of record and put in a request for absentee ballot right now. If your parents will mail it to you as soon as they get it, and you return it as soon as you get it, you will be able to vote absentee and have your voice counted.

Good luck!

Ah, well that's where "smileys" come in handy.

Pixels on a screen don't convey the tone of the speaker, unfortunately, so stick a "smiley" in there and you're indeed, "in like flynn." Wink

I ain't Navy... Different ZIP CODE! I was not allowed to vote during deployment to Bosnia... I recieved my absentee voter card a day after the elections... so did everyone else in my Brigade. (Not Absolute Malarkee... Possible.)

If you will remember basic, you are stripped of rights, and have to earn them back. It's the breakdown build up period... Dude, I am not sure what you are thinking...

I am just puttzin around the forum to see what kind of reactions I can get. I am attempting to see how valid the statements of some of these vets are... So far I have been attacked, but nobody seems to justify what I am looking for. I have a great respect for some of the Navy I have worked with while Deployed to Bosnia... Sea-Bees are numero uno in my book Exclamation (People sometimes reval themselves though hostile means... it says a lot about a position or type of person that commits the effort to retaliate.) Most combat vets banter like this to size up the situation or to just have fun... That man going into boot camp may or may not be able to vote, and it is not really a hot topic for debate. More than likely he will be stateside and the DI will force them to vote... and that brings up a complete different can of worms. Smile

Not being allowed to vote isn't really Quzars fear. If like in 2000, having his vote counted will be the fear.

It was the Democrats led by Al (all votes must be counted) Gore that tried desparately to block thousands of military absentee ballots.

Welcome, Quzar.

Yep going to Great Lakes, IL for boot camp. I heard Great Lakes, IL is the only place to go to boot camp in the navy.

I did pick a job as a Electronics Technician. Also going to take the PQS so i can get promoted to E-2 before boot camp and get that extra $100 for pay.

also i want to vote since i live in a Battleground state ( Nevada).
