KENNEDY CAR CRASH COVER-UP?
Thu May 04 2006 17:12:05 ET

Police labor union officials asked acting Chief Christopher McGaffin this afternoon to allow a Capitol Police officer to complete his investigation into an early-morning car crash involving Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.), son of Sen. Ted Kennedy.

ROLL CALL reports: According to a letter sent by Officer Greg Baird, acting chairman of the USCP FOP, the wreck took place at approximately 2:45 a.m. Thursday when Kennedy's car, operating with its running lights turned off, narrowly missed colliding with a Capitol Police cruiser and smashed into a security barricade at First and C streets Southeast.

“The driver exited the vehicle and he was observed to be staggering,” Baird’s letter states. Officers approached the driver, who “declared to them he was a Congressman and was late to a vote. The House had adjourned nearly three hours before this incident. It was Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy from Rhode Island.”

Baird wrote that Capitol Police Patrol Division units, who are trained in driving under the influence cases, were not allowed to perform basic field sobriety tests on the Congressman. Instead, two sergeants, who also responded to the accident, proceeded to confer with the Capitol Police watch commander on duty and then “ordered all of the Patrol Division Units to leave the scene and that they were taking over.”

A source tells the DRUDGE REPORT: It was apparent that the driver was intoxicated (stumbling) and claimed he was in a hurry to make a vote. When it became apparent who it was instead of processing a normal DWI the watch commander had the Patrol units clear the scene and allowed other building officials drive Kennedy home.

This morning's incident comes just over two weeks after Kennedy was involved in a car accident in Rhode Island.

It's way past time for all members of the Kennedy clan to be required to register as 'automotive offenders'.

I can't wait until Cynthia McKinney decries the preferential treatment given to a Kennedy in involvement with law enforcement compared to her claim of racially-motivated maltreatment in a House office building.

But, since they were both Democrats, Pelosi may put her foot down.

Kennedy Blames Accident on Sleep Medicine
Quote:

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (news, bio, voting record) crashed his car near the Capitol early Thursday, and a police official said he appeared intoxicated. Kennedy said he had taken sleep medication and a prescription anti-nausea drug that can cause drowsiness.

Kennedy, D-R.I., addressed the issue after a spate of news reports. His initial statement said: "I consumed no alcohol prior to the incident."'

snipped...

IF so, it wouldn't seem prudent to drive with that combo of meds..

Rush Limbaugh just said that a source that he trusts says they have obtained Patrick Kennedy's bar tab for that night.

I always thought driving under the influence (DUI) meant any drug/medicine/narcotic/alcohol that negatively influenced your driving ability. Basically, he got out of the vehicle and admitted he was DUI.

Newsmax is reporting he is entering drug rehab again. He claims to have no memory of getting out of bed and driving. My question: Was he wearing pajamas or a suit?

Patrick Kennedy to enter drug rehab

Now, to wait and see if the Prosecutor drags him through 2 1/2 years of investigations and demands to open his medical records to see if he was doctor shopping, as they did Rush Limbaugh.

Any bets this will just quietly go away?

Yeah. I just saw him on Fox News stating that he was checking into
drug rehab. That's more class than McKinney had. AND it didn't take
him a couple of weeks to 'fess up to it either. I'm not a fan of the
Kennedy family, but at least that's the right thing to do. Now, if he
can come through like Limbaugh, he might have a permanent fix to
his problem. I'm just happy to have someone in the Democratic party
admit to a problem for once. I still have no use for Teddy though.

Sometimes I think the entire Joe Kennedy brood should investigated under RICCO statutes as a criminal enterprise. They have provided unending entertainment for gossip and sadly, news columns over the years if you care for that kinda thing. Frankly, they're over exposed, unredeemed slime balls.

Come 'n listen to a story 'bout a man named Ted
A poor Cape Cod'eer, barely kept his family fed
And then one day, he was lookin' for some poon
He drove his car and his girlfriend was doomed.
Mary Joe that is, young girl, not his wife.

Well, the first thing you know, Ted's son's just like his dad.
Kin folk said, Ted, keep him away it's bad!
Said, Hyannisport is the place he oughta be
So they loaded up the limo and they moved in with the other Kennedy's.
Rehab that is, swimmin' pools, liquor, movie stars.

by Roll Call Staff,
John McArdle

"An internal investigation conducted by acting chief found that two police management officials improperly handled the depts. investigation into the car crash involving Rep. Patrick Kennedy D RI,

Union officials are particularly upset that the officer who responded to Kennedys accident was not allowed to complete his investigation at the scene but was instead ordered to leave the scene while Kennedy was given a ride home by dept. officals. "

Now listen up as the Repuekacrats all line up... "Well its not that bad,
he is just on drugs, he's not a drunk like his dad, its all ok..

How low do we have to sink before we do something about our country,
the leaders sink lower and lower each day, and they are 100% sure to
drag us down with them.

First to have a Country of honor, men of honor must take a stand.
