John Hinderaker posts this on Powerline (emphasis mine):

Quote:
The Democrats will be needing a new campaign theme:

Quote:
A congressman under investigation for bribery was caught on videotape accepting $100,000 in $100 bills from an FBI informant whose conversations with the lawmaker also were recorded, according to a court document released Sunday. Agents later found the cash hidden in his freezer.

At one audiotaped meeting, Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., chuckles about writing in code to keep secret what the government contends was his corrupt role in getting his children a cut of a communications company's deal for work in Africa.

I guess that explains the search warrant that was executed on Jefferson's house.

You may remember that this is the same William Jefferson, D-La., who, during the Katrina flooding, commandeered a couple of heavy National Guard trucks to carry him to the front door of his NO house from which he later emerged with boxes and trunks full of who-knows-what.

Although Hinderaker doesn't mention it, the FBI has been dragging out copious material from his House of Representatives office all weekend.

Ms. Pelosi, call your speech writers.

Mrs. Pelosi will have to start including her own party in the 'culture of corruption' charges she is so fond of throwing around.
Somewhere a woman who is such an accomplished liar will have a skeleton hiding. Somebody needs to dig her's up.

I thought my local Dallas Morning News made an eloquent and effective statement on this in this morning's paper.

On the first page was an over-hypped story about a movie (shades of Farenheit 911) on Tom DeLay.

On page 2 was the Jefferson story, much shorter, much less visible, and much less accusatory in tone.

Yep, good old MSM is doing it's part.

Pelosi was busted with some illegal aliens working on her property in CA. She was also fined $25,000 for something as well, I think it was campaign violations of some sort. There is enough culture of corruption to go around. Pelosi wanted to hang the Duke in public, she is very quiet about Jefferson.
