I have this thing about celebrities injecting politics into their work-related activities, as in Susan Sarandon making an anti-war speech at an award ceremony. Imagine, if you will, an awards night at some business association, say, insurance companies, and "Salesperson of the Year" gets up to accept her award, but before she saying thankyou she launches into a pitch for the Dahli Lamma, or PETA, or lambastes the President on pre-emption policy. Everyone there would think she's lost her mind...at the very least, the audience would rightly feel put upon.

But I agree with you. I don't want to know about their political views...and for them to force them on the public, and then complain when the public reacts negatively, is the height of self-indulgence.

RE the older celebs...maybe it's a bit of 60's barricades nostalgia...when they were young and at the center of it all...and thin (Ronstadt)...
