This has been on the board -- just another reminder: The re-airing of the 1971 Dick Cavett Show - John O'Neill/Kerry debate will be on C-Span, 6pm EST.

I don't see the debate listed on C-span's schedule for Sunday. Is it still on at 6pm?

I was watching C-Span last week and it popped up on the screen as being scheduled for today at 6pm EST. Others on this board have also posted about the show being on. And yes, I note it does not appear on their schedule at their website.

All one can do is check in before or at that time and see if it's on. If it's not after they have announced it, they will definitely hear from me!

I checked the c-span listing on the web.
They will be broadcasting the O'neill-Kerry debate at 6PM and again at 9PM (both Eastern time).
I also checked the on-screen cable guide. It only mentions the 6PM showing. Don't know which to believe. The 6PM showing is a "for sure", I'm catching that one.

For those of us who saw this debate at the time, we can't wait to see it again! But what is really exciting to me is for the younger folk out there who have never seen it -- and will now get to see a young O'Neill confront a pompous Kerry. If it was only shown in PRIMETIME -- I think the entire nation needs to see this!

When C-span ran this a few months ago, they first had the audio of Kerry's testimony in 1971 to the Senate -- then the Cavett interview -- then a current day phone interview with John O'Neill (which can be heard in the C-Span archives). Wish they had used that "package" again -- but at least they are doing this!

Enough -- enjoy!!

Is anyone other than me cracking up about the ad intros?

Something like this would never happen today. Couldn't fit it into the three-minute sound bites we get today.

"After I received my three wounds... thought about it for two weeks..."

Hmph.

As impressed as I was by John O'Neill's performances against the likes of James Carville, Chris Matthews, Lanny Davis, et al. during the past week, I have to say that his performance on Cavett at the tender age of 25 with a hooting bunch of lefties in the audience was even more impressive. Awesome debate!

Anyone out there with enough clout/know-how to get this aired prime time? (AND the audio of Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony) --

After all, in the debate, Kerry did say over and over that the "public has a right to know"..... let's make his wish come true (better late than never).

The transcript of that debate is impressive enough - seeing it happen is incredible.

John Kerry smirking and squirming away with distractions and evasions, just as he had with his Senate testimony that 60-80 of soldiers were staying high 24 hours a day.

John O'Neill standing up to that snotty Brahmin and making some real points WITH TRUTH. What an amazing young man he was - no wonder he's doing so well with even the ambushes on Crossfire and Hardball.

Great stuff, even with the comical commercial interruptions.

If I set it up properly, sorry, don't have a 9 year old to teach me, I have the VCR set up to record the debate when it comes on again this evening. 6:30 to 8 PM, Pacific Time.

If it works and I get it, I'll let all know.

Just in case anyone missed today's 6PM or 9PM replay of the 1971 O'Neill-Kerry debate on the Dick Cavett Show on C-SPAN, get the VCRs set. You get another chance at catching it at Midnight.
