Dragoro,

Of course they are, but so what? We can simply say that the President did the right thing and made sure that the law was obeyed. What about Kerry's testimony. What about that?

The point is that we quickly akwoledge what he did was wrong but move on to our own points. WE need to drive the debate, not them.

Let's not use the DNC and Moveon.org as our standard of integrity and openess.

Yes, point taken. My apologies.

That one vet be both serving as a high-level volunteer on the BC campaign AND in a SBVT ad. Small world, perhaps??

SBVT needs to address this.

Agreed. SBVT must avoid even the appearance of impropriety at all cost.

I'm going to trust the SBVT to do the right thing.

O'Neill is a great lawyer. I am sure that he is already on top of it. This is merely an attempt to change the topic....again.

I sure wish O'Neill were running for president. He's got my vote should he ever run.

I personally don't think there is anything nefarious behind it.

He was a volunteer campaign worker on the veterans coalition.

He spoke his mind in an ad that described the devastation Kerry et al had wreaked upon the morale of the POW's who were keeping the faith and fighting the good fight as best they could.

With these new campaign finance laws, it's very difficult to understand just what constitutes "coordination."

Did the Bush campaign tell Mr. Cordier what to say in the ad? Did they even know he was going to BE in the ad?

No - he was dismissed from his volunteer position as soon as the BC'04 campaign realized that there might be a problem.

And THEY are the ones who released the news.

They were right up front about it, even though MSM could have broken a story on it yesterday if they were doing their jobs instead of scrambling to make sure that Kerry's butt was covered. Wink

I don't for a nanosecond discount his testimony in the ad, and salute him for his bravery and sacrifice.

I've made my point and don't really wan't to dwell on it. We've got an uphill battle ahead of us.

Folks,
This is the kind of media bias that really ticks me off. When you read the title on CNN it says "BUSH ADVISER QUITS OVER AD APPEARANCE"

Now, you see that and think there is a split between this fellow and the Bush campaign. Very subtle, but distinct difference in the truth.

He resigned so that he COULD appear in the ad without a conflict of interest or breaking the campaign finance laws.

This stuff really burns me up. THERE IS NO MEDIA BIAS. Right.

It "appears" he quit AFTER appearing in the ad. Maybe I'm missing something on the exact sequence of events.

If you rob a bank and later turn yourself in, the cops aren't going to let you walk. The law was still broken, and people have to be held accountable...otherwise it's no deterrent at all.

The entire SBVT effort hangs on credibility. Conflict of interest is the enemy of truth. If anymore such things emerge, I'm outta here.

Jungle_rat,

Gimmee a break. This was a volunteer in a state campaign effort. He should have resigned before he did the ad so I'm not defending that, but he wasn't being paid by the Bush campaign and he wasn't a player in the overall campaign.

I don't believe that there was any deliberate effort to break the rules.

What rules were broken anyway?

Cordier was a volunteer for "Veterans for Bush".

Is there anyone claiming that he:

A) had the authority in either organization to coordinate the two.

B) DID coordinate the two organizations to deliver the messages.

C) That the Bush campaign sent Cordier to be in the ad with a specific message.

If the 6 degrees of seperation rule is applied fully, SBVT are far more connected to the Kerry campaign than the Bush campaign. Is it FEC policy that now ANY "Veterans for Bush" are off limits to SBVT? That seems to be a 1st ammendment violation right there.

Lack of payment is a specious argument. He is clearly a partisan political activist. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, IMHO, EXCEPT when SBVT gives their "word" to us that there's no connection with the Bush campaign.

It will break my heart if the overwhelming weight of the SBVT's truth is in anyway diminished by this screw-up.

That's just my opinion.
