"I'm under the impression that they were near the Cambodian border," said Brinkley, in the interview. So Kerry's statement about being in Cambodia at Christmas "is obviously wrong," he said. "It's a mongrel phrase he should never have uttered. I stick to my story."

It's just one of those mongrel phrases that was seared into my memory.

Brinkley is on film saying he is a Democrat. Some news organization should find the piece and ask him if he's a centrist, as he now claims, or a partisan Democrat. It's ok if he's a Democrat. Why dissemble? Maybe he's learning from Kerry how to nuance. At least he's coming out of hiding, but no one on MSNBC will challenge him on SBVT issues. It's a freindly venue. He'll probably start believing Kerry's BS all over again.
(Brinkley's supposed to be an analyst on MSNBC for the Republican convention week)
