There are more Bush bashing books on the way. Not only is the Kelley book coming out, there's one called "The Phoney Fighter Pilot." And a book by Graham from FL.
Things are going to get much nastier. |

Looking at the poll mentioned at the top of this thread some things stand out.
Of those who are apt to vote who are voting for Kerry, 50% say that they are actually voting against Bush.
Of those who are apt to vote who are voting for Bush, 15% say that they are actually voting against Kerry.
What does this say about who's running a negative campaign?
And, to the question "Is [Kerry] a strong and decisive leader?", Kerry went from 42% saying YES after the DNC conv. to 32% thinking so now.
ALso, to the question "Is [Kerry] honest and trustworthy, Kerry went from 46% saying YES after the DNC conv. to 38% thinking so now.
I have to think that the SwiftVet ads have helped to change this perctption about Kerry. |

I'm glad to know that so many are confident about the outcome this fall. The SVFT have done the country a great service for the second time. I still just feel a certain amount of uneasiness. The big media panned the SVFT story without thought and have now moved back to the ANG. I know it's desperation and you know that, but it still hurts the cause and could thrown GWB off his stride.
I'm excited to vote for W, but it's just as important to keep Kerry away from the levers of power. He defamed the military, voted to strip it of power, and generally doesn't agree with the top brass about how to fight the war on terror. Unfortuantely, the big media see things exactly opposite from us and they'll do everything in their power to accomplish it. They have a big megaphone and that scares me. |

I think people have GOT to get over this idea that the LM still somehow controls the electorate. That consensus, the herd, has split. You need to remember that the LM REFUSED . . categorically REFUSED . . to cover the Swift vets for months. Then suddenly they found out that people across the land knew about them, nonetheless.
Now, on the other hand, you might specifically argue that radio talk and cable are not as interested in the issue, now. And they WERE a major part of the 'new media' which spread the word. But radio talk hasn't given up on the issue. And cable was spotty, at that. It's summer. The 'bloggers' see the numbers and maybe took a vacation. But it'll all be back in a few weeks. And besides, even if the Swifties themselves retired on the issue, which I hope they don't, all those they attempted to convince, like myself, and thousands of others, will still be on the case, as I'm sure will you. |

Hello,
Kerry supporters in a nutshell..
Quote: | And ask yourself this: Why does Kerry's Democrat Party act as a magnet for the violent, America-hating thugs, lowlifes and freaks who invaded New York in an attempt to disrupt the Republican National Convention? If we are known by the company we keep, what does this say about him? |

Many early twenty-somethings are new voters and use only their cell phones, don't even have a home telephone. This group will not be included in telephone polls because there's no way to reach them. Some (many?) of them will vote and they tend to be Kerry supporters. |

Quote: | I have 3 voting age kids: one early-20's, one mid-20's and a late-20's.
Late-20's: gonna vote. Teacher, but not for Kerry. Nor will her ("ex"-Marine) significant other. Oddly enough, neither of these two have the SBVFT issues as reasons. |
Mid- 20's is precisely "You GottaBeKidding" description -- right down to the cell phone part, and will probably follow "Polaris" theory. If not, she's a conservative Yuppie, so it's hard to tell. VERY independent, though, and very smart.
Early-20's: existing active duty Marine: what do you think he'll do? Ollie North said it all on Hannity and Colmes tonight.
This is either a statistical sample of 1 or 3, depending on how you do the math.
Since these are my kids, I've not "told them how to vote". I've just told them what is true, is not true, and what I don't know, according to the subject. I've told them, along with my wife, that I'd put a SBVFT sticker on my truck, but not a Bush or Kerry or Nader sticker.

UPDATE:
the "ex-Marine" (Desert Storm Vet) asked me an interesting question yesterday (Sunday 9/12/2004):
"What do you know about Kerry throwing some medals away? I heard that from a friend, and didn't know what was going on"
... this guy is 33 years old. So I told him about VVAW and the Winter Soldier stuff.
His comment: "Are you s*itting me? This guy is actually running for office?"
I forgot to realize that there are young vets, and guys like me.

jwb,
You have to admit that your kids are not like those that hang out on that barking moonbat board.
I hope that the kids like yours vote and the moonbats don't. |
