Presuming that somebody is stupid because of the way he/she talks or presents themselves in public is about as painfully ignorant as assuming blacks are stupid because of their skin color.

Sadly, the Dems seem to be most accomplished at both: they assume, or put forth the myth that because Bush speaks Texan and has southern affectations, he is less intelligent than Kerry. In that case, they should think Edwards is a perfect moron!

It is just sad that Kerry and the Dems cannot win in the arena of ideas, but rather (no pun intended) seek the lowest path by resorting to innuendo, insinuation, ad hominem attacks and outright lies.

You can see that in the way they treat the SBVT.

I had a very interesting discussion with a couple of my hockey teammates over beer after practice Tuesday night. Our coach is a Marine reservist - she and I are definitely Bush supporters and Kerry...non-supporters. The other two ladies at the table were nominal Kerry supporters - and for some interesting reasons....

Like, it's just time for a change -

My stocks were doing so much better under Clinton -

Life was better under Clinton -

Who are we really fighting in Iraq?

Who are we really fighting in the war on terror?

Etc.

Now, that was all very interesting to me - but what blew me away was that they didn't know about the Oil for Food scandal!!! Never heard of it!!!

And (to tie back to the topic of this thread) when I was talking about media bias, the one thing that caught one of the gals attention was when she mentioned how stupid Bush is - and I countered with "no, his SAT scores place him in the top 10 percent of the US population."

She stopped in mid-sentance and looked right at me, and said "but how come I've never heard that?" I looked at her and made my point about media bias - and the fact that there are a lot of things she's not hearing about.

Anyway...I wrote up a long post the next morning and gave them a whoooole bunch of links to Oil for Food, Bush's IQ, Memogate (which neither of them had heard of either), media bias, etc. Probably too much information...

So - here is the part of that email that lists links for Bush's IQ - and the Internet hoax that apparently started (or contributed to) the "Bush is stupid mindset" -

*******************

As a good example of media bias – we can look at the misinformation regarding President Bush’s intelligence.

· From “A Matter of Character: Inside the White House of George Bush by Ronald Kessler [voted for Gore in 2000]”:

o “The New Yorker would later run Bush’s Scholastic Aptitude (SAT) test scores – 566 for the verbal and 640 for math. Because of an adjustment in the way the scores are reported, the total of 1,206 is equivalent to 1,280 today. Once again the liberal elite made fun of Bush. Based on the scores, Bush’s IQ would be more than 120, placing him in the top 10 percent of the population, according to Charles Murray, a leading expert on IQ tests. The latest average of high school graduates is 1,026, 180 points lower than Bush’s adjusted score. On paper, Richard Nixon was one of the smartest presidents, with an IQ of 143, yet he orchestrated the Watergate cover-up, leading to his resignation. Bill Clinton was a Rhodes Scholar yet was dumb enough to engage in an affair with an immature White House intern.”

· Other web sites that support Kessler’s claim –

o http://www.sq.4mg.com/IQformula.htm (Formulas converting SAT scores to IQ)

o http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=20040114-074349-3947r

· So…why the claim that Bush is as dumb as a post?

o http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/presiq.htm This is an “urban legend debunking site”, which highlights an ongoing satire of the President, citing a study by the “Lovenstein Institute.” Problem? There is no such organization, and they’ve never done any studies like this! But, the rocket scientists in the mainstream media apparently didn’t catch on – or didn’t fact check their sources – and have been reporting this bogus information as “news”. Since there is a liberal bias to the mainstream media (see sources below) – they just believed what they wanted to believe….

Now where have I seen that before? Wink

Funny how the MSM will jump on an anti-Bush story, never vetting or verifying, because they "know" it must be true. Yet the SBVT story, researched and with citations and sworn testimony, is smeared and defamed, or ignored altogether, because the MSM "knows" it can't be true.

The only thing that is completely discredited is the MSM. And they did it to themselves, with their eyes wide open, and liberal bias held high.

Kerry Jabbing Bush With Multitasking Line

*Associated Press/AP Online

MILWAUKEE - Democrat John Kerry has taken to summarizing the
presidential fight with a line that's both a dig at his opponent and
an appeal to undecided voters. "A president," Kerry says,
"has to be able to do more than one thing at the same
time." The line is intended for voters with questions about
President Bush's performance in office who still hesitate to back
Kerry, adviser Mike McCurry said.
It jabs at the president's singular focus on terrorism and
security as the only things at issue in the presidential campaign,
he said.
"The argument is that the singular preoccupation with
eradicating evildoing in the world ... it creates blinders that
allow you to miss the other things that are important to the
American people," McCurry said.
McCurry argues that Kerry can be a "president who can
simultaneously conduct an aggressive war on terror but not drop the
ball on jobs and health care."
Democrats repeatedly charge that the president ignored or
mishandled the economy, education and health care. Kerry reminds
voters at every turn that the economy lost jobs under Bush's watch
and says more people lost their health care and slipped into poverty
during his term.
The laughter and cheers that erupt after Kerry delivers the
line show the friendly audiences at campaign speeches and rallies
take it another way - as a subtle dig at Bush's intelligence and
ability to juggle the tasks of the presidency.
The Bush campaign sees it that way, too.
"It's another example of John Kerry throwing a low
blow," said spokesman Steve Schmidt. "It's an insult that
demonstrates why so many Americans find John Kerry
unlikeable..."
Schmidt also disputed the idea that the president ignored
the home front while pursuing terrorists, pointing to education
reforms, successive tax cuts, a Medicare prescription drug benefit
and a new Homeland Security Department created during Bush's term.
While a slap at Bush, the line also creates the opportunity
for Kerry to use a speech on any subject as a forum for rebutting
constant Republican charges that the Massachusetts senator won't
fight terrorists and protect national security.
Then, Kerry can portray himself as the president who can
keep one eye on the world at large the other eye on things at home.
In a speech Friday about equal pay, minimum wages and
education aimed at working women, Kerry started off by talking about
Iraq.
"When I am president, we're going to make a fresh start
in Iraq. We're going to bring new credibility. We're going to bring
our allies to our side," Kerry said. "Let me also make it
clear that we will hunt down, capture, or kill the terrorists."
"I will never give any other country or any other
organization a veto over the national security of the United
States," he added. "But my fellow Americans, a president
has to be able to do more than one thing at the same time."

The content of the article is at http://www.vdare.com/sailer/kerry_iq_lower.htm

I suspect it will go through one more edit, but as to when we will see it somewhere other than on the web is unknown to me. Except for emailing it to the moon and the far reaches of the cosmos, my part of this project was wrapped up Friday at midnight.

The author of the article, Steve Sailor, http://www.isteve.com/ is a UPI reporter among other things and has written several articles on IQ. He expects the story to be picked up by major print outlets but I don't have any more information at this time.

I am in contact with Steve and will keep folks on this forum up to date.

Sam: Do you have any news on traffic at VDARE or other exposure?

It's very heavy.

We'll see if it makes a very prominent newspaper this Sunday. Should know soon.

Steve

ALSO: I have gotten several private messages asking permission to share this info. Of course I want this info shared. I did not make it clear but I intended to make it easy for people to just copy and paste the first post in this thread, edit it anyway you like and send it to everyone you can think of, please!

I have found out that women respond to the message very well. My wife is a psychotherapist and she is the brain behind the message's power in simulating compassion/nurture/defend/ instincts in women's attitude toward Bush.

Also, please note that no candidate is endorsed and I pointed out that Kerry has an IQ as high as President Kennedy. This is not intended to be a partisan article although the political ramifications are obvious.

Liberal (blue state) elitism is one target. Creating understanding about gifted children and exposing the inappropriateness of judging people’s intelligence from personality traits is another goal.

All help in spreading the word is welcome and deeply appreciated.

Sam

Great stuff. They called Reagan stupid. They called Eisenhower stupid, too. They still haven't figured it out.

I heard on a conservative radio program (might have been Mike Gallagher), that Bush had better grades at Yale than Kerry. Something like a 'B' vs. a low-'C'. Anyone know if that's true?
