Look, you guys, I know you are righteous in your intents, and pure in heart. I have been hanging out with you long enough to know that. But I am concerned how it might appear to lurkers who are looking 24/7 for the next "gotcha".
I just wanted to set the record straight.
Lurkers: move on to move.on. This is an adult conversation and so it is over your head. _________________ The last refuge of scoundrels is not patriotism; it is finicky liberal humanitarianism.--Martin Paretz |

The only thing that I would like to ad is there are a lot of Irish in around Boston and I'm not talking about third generation Irish or "I'm Irish on St Patricks day Irish". Its all about politcal opportunism and its a reverse form of bigotry to imply that Irish Americans wouldnt take the ancestry of a candidate into consideration. Surely, Mel Martinez has greater support among hispanics than Bill McCollum. If it turned out that Martinez was actually Itialian and took the name Martinez through a stepfather and lied for political opportuntiy, would people call cuban voters stupid. Would it be a nonissue. No it wouldn't. People would probably be hysterical. Kerry's a snake and unless you've been to Southie, I wouldn't pass judgement on how seriously the Irish take their heritage or what it means politically in Masschusetts. |

Oh coolhand, I understand. The term "Irish Mafia" is no joke, and the power they hold in Boston is frightening. I could write a book (hey! maybe I will ) about the money siphoned off of construction projects in MA by the Irish Mafia and those connections to Kerry and Kennedy. Particularly in the power industry, but everyone has to pay extortion money. I was recently in New England; and I wasn't there to look at the fall foliage. The point is that Kerry is a political opportunist from the word go. No news there.
Got an email today from Bush Cheney campaign that Brian Goldy, the Irish-Catholic rep from Boston, is supporting W.
Ouch. That'll leave a mark. _________________ The last refuge of scoundrels is not patriotism; it is finicky liberal humanitarianism.--Martin Paretz |

Kimmymac -
The article where Golden talks about supporting Bush is posted here: (http://www2.swiftvets.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14749) _________________ "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse."

If anyone here is anti-semitic I would suggest that you vote for Kerry because he would not protect Israel and President Bush has been an excellent friend to Israel. |
