Remember how they tried to make a scandal of his association with
Dick Cheney, it was just a group of guys on a fishing trip.
I don't think they would be so ready to attack Thomas, since he has
kinda flown under the radar for most of his years on the Court.
Also, his age is a factor. I believe he is only 59, which means that
we would have a good conservative Chief Justice for many years
to come. I'm not sure, but I think Scalia is 70.
I think President Bush is looking to the future, and wants to ensure
that the court will have strict constructionist, conservative direction
going forward. Long after his presidency is over. |
I agree with most of what you say. Thomas has been under the radar alright. He hardly ever says anything but does write good opinions.

I agree with most of what is said here, I just think Scalia might be a better choice. |
