Kerry supporter? Are you crazy???? If Kerry gets elected, we'll probably starting pledging to the hammer and sickle.

Rather is NOT going to admit he was wrong. NO WAY. This guy has been drinking the coolaid toooo long. And do we really think CBS is going to seriously look at the charges.

I want Kerry to go down as badly as the rest of you people. I just don't hold out much faith on people doing the right thing. I hope I'm wrong on this, but my gut tells me these people have no conscience when it comes to getting this blow hard elected.

I always say, look at the people a person surrounds himself with. You can judge a person by this and I have to say, Kerry is sourly lacking in judgement and character.

What are the chances that a typewriter form 31 years ago produces a document that can be easily reproduced on word in a similar font, spacing, margins, line breaks, centering, superscript, and kearning...

ASTRONOMICAL....., IMHO, and many other EXPERTS whom some have hired to opine in these....

Why hasn't IBM or anyone else produced a ball Font form a typewriter that could produce such a memo??

Why doesn't CBS's EXPERT give a name when all the other document experts are attaching their names to say these are most likely forgeries.

Is't okay We are all too familiar with how the MSM manages to get away with bias that is unprecedented in the history of journalism. The MSM does not hold to any form of ethos except its own political leaning. Dan Rather has lost all credibility and I don't see any of the major network anchors holding to the standards they are supposed to represent. The major networks are like a dinosaur. An increasing percentage of the public has learned that it cannot depend on them to report the news without bias. About the only thing you can get from them that you can believe in is the weather and that is often wrong.

Have faith. This matter is out of our hands. It now has a life of its own. The ohter networks and cable channels will torch CBS because it is in their best interest to discredit CBS as needs doing. That's a natural force of competition for ratings. CBS could actually improve its ratings right now by admitting the documents are forgeries and doing its own investigation and by helping to bring the perpetrators to justice. But they won't. Dan Rather does not have the courage or character to come clean

Look, I agree. Here is the problem though. If the MSM do not come out and say these are in fact fakes, there are a lot of people out there who will not believe they are. They buy into what they hear from these bozo's on NBC/CBS/ABC. It has to be said by the networks otherwise this goes nowhere and Rather gets away with this fraud.

Remember, with these people facts mean nothing. They are already trying to propagate the fact from somebody who knew the LtCol he thought this way about Bush. They will fixate on that and completely give CBS a pass on the fake docs.

We are going to see some really strange things in the next couple of months and I truly believe Kerry will win because these guys will not accept any other outcome. I AM SCARED TO DEATH with the thought of a Kerry Presidency. But I will not be surprised if he pulls this off.

Dan Rather's refusal to admit they are forgeries, means only one thing to me; He was part of the plan to make the President look bad. He did not count on Algore's Internet and very inteligent Blogs.

Can someone tell me why there is not a Federal Investigation about this? It is clearly a forgery of Government documents with the intent to commit fraud.

Mastour, I think we can win and win big, but I agree that these jihadists of the liberalism will stop at nothing to win - lie, cheat, steal, whatever. I fear that we are getting too hung up on the fact the memos werent originals. They may come up with some lame excuse (I think they will argue the memos are transcriptions of the orginals).

I think its great that the Swifts unleashed a new round of ads nationally. We cant let Kerry off the hook and we must keep hin on the defensive during all this. Attack Rather but lets not relent on Kerry.

Look guys and gals. I'm currently living in the good old UK so I'm surrounded by Socialist here. Their press here is worse than what we have in the U.S. So you have to understand where I'm coming from here. I am bombarded with Socialist dogma every freakin day, say a prayer for me.

My vote has already been cast and let's just say Rush is just a bit right of me. I'm taking the cautious approach with all this though. Working for NCIS I've seen a few strange things and talked to some very strange people, but I can safely say what is going on right now with this election is down right scary.

I'll keep the faith but will not be surprised by any thing I see anymore.

Keep up the good, hell great work people and I'll try to convert some minds and souls across the pond.

Doc,

The Selectric proportional font does have serifs. It's not all that clear in the part you posted, although someone who's familiar with fonts can see it. However, look at the sample farther down the page and you'll see that there are serifs.

One clue is the different stroke weights (thickness of the lines) in different parts of letters. There may be a sans serif typeface that has varying stroke weights, but I can't think of any right off the bat (oops! Optima sorta kinda is, or is close). Think about Arial and Verdana, Futura, Helvetica.

My 99.9% might make more sense to you if I tell you that my day job is in the Department of Experimental Statistics at a major land grant university. I am not a statistician, but did take several graduate level statistics courses and have taught a basic statistical graphics class.

Statisticians just don't say 100% very often <g>.
