Its sunday am weather is find sun blue sky 80 degrees
I'd like it like that all year .
Unfortunatly I live in Up-state N Y ! Then again neighbors in FLA are going through HELL I hope they're going to be OK .
Voting is like the weather , We can talk about it and we ain't going to change it . That is BS , if we don't vote we cannot make change happen .
The eliitist among our citizens are bound and determined to rule the great unwashed masses . I don't remenber any great intellectuals aboard ship in the sixties ! Just ordinary people doing their jobs and b****ing about life .
They say "a happy sailor is a b****ing sailor . "
The electing of Mr Kerry to the office of President would be counter productive . He is a career politician , a lawyer w/ Edwards as vp , it would be a disaster , another lawyer . Its time to vote and hope that we can keep the direction of our goverment going in the right direction . No pun intended . So the secret to saving the Republic from the " Socialist Democrats " and their cohorts is to re-elect Mr Bush .
Otherwise stand by for a total redirection of the country toward a
European model "ala " France ! The Clintons , Kennedys Schumers Fat Boy Moore Hollywood and Pelosi and Dachle etc . My God we will be in deep excretory mess . So vote

How I Accidentally Joined the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy (and Found Inner Peace) by Harry Stein

Ditto! I read that several years ago. Gave it to some Dem friends of my wife. He converted and she might. It's a good read, with very clearly organized differences between left and Right. It's also in paperback, for you cheapskates (like ME!)

Forgot to add; In regards to getting more people to vote....WHY? If someone doesn't know how many branches of government we have, who their own elected representatives are, the differences in the seperation of powers, or a basic knowledge of our constitution, then they are a DANGER to our way of life.

Call me a racist, bigot, homophobe and any other lefist slur, but I think registration to vote should include the same questions that we require foreigners to answer prior to their naturalization. These folks that can't be bothered with learning a little about what is going on, should keep their headphones on, TV, People Magazine, or whatever else occupies them for the other 1400 some days between elections and leave the decision making to the informed.

Also, if you are completely dependent upon the federal government for your subsistence, your vote either doesn't count, or counts for less than a taxpayer. "If Peter is robbed to pay Paul, you can always rely upon Paul's support."

Thanks, TugBoatPhil! It's an interesting book.

Becky, I know you didn't originate the list about one vote counting, but I think I need to take exception to one item on it. That business about Kennedy being elected by one vote per precinct...well, there were some ahem..."problems"...in Chicago. Nixon could have sued like Al Gore, but he decided not to do it for the sake of the nation. Here in Iowa, just a few years ago, somebody found a few hundred absentee ballots in the trunk of a car well after the election. We have to work hard and be vigilant to be SURE that one vote counts like it's supposed to.

If you really want to test your mental limits, venture over to where I hang out. The Santa Cruz sentinel forums. It is filled with some VERY heated debates that have some former Viatnam Vets who have a huge distaste for Bush.

It's a pretty polarazing place, so don't say I didn't warn ya. Thank God you guys are here to arm me with some facts in order to combat the Pro Kerry agenda put forth there.
