Some articles, for the record, regarding this guy on this “fact-finding” mission:

Quote:
“Kerry’s skills on display in Mideast trip,” Boston Globe, 1/4/05
Sen. John F. Kerry is reemerging on the public stage this week with a 13-day fact-finding trip through the Middle East, which supporters say shows that the MA Dem. is determined to maintain a high profile after his losing presidential campaign. "He intends to play a prominent role in foreign & domestic policy, & this is clear evidence of this," ... " The fact that his first major public outing following the election relates to Iraq & foreign policy tells us that he intends to be a strong spokesperson on those issues." ...... Kerry is the only elected official on his trip, & he is making an unusual number of stops in the Middle East, suggesting that he wants to go beyond the sometimes-scripted events planned by the Bush admin. ... Kerry insisted on charting his own course for his trip. ... his associates say Kerry will try to fill the current power vacuum within the Dem. Party, while Republicans control the White House & both houses of Congress. .... "This is an effort to say: 'I'm not going to slip into oblivion. I'm going to be a voice in national politics,' " .....

There’s the motive for his trip -- other senators have traveled to Iraq, but they go in groups - kerry, of course, wants to go it alone so reports will only mention his name and no one else’s and who knows why else....

Quote:
“Kerry Visits US Toops in Iraq,” Agence France Presse, 1/6/05
Former US presidential hopeful John Kerry has visited US troops in Iraq at a camp in Baghdad, the military said on Thursday. The Dem. Sen., who lost to George W Bush in last year's vote, met soldiers from his home state of MA at Camp Tahreer on Wednesday, discussing "the presidential election and the state of the war in Iraq." Kerry also asked soldiers what he should tell Congress about the war in Iraq and was told that "the good work that they are doing is not getting reported in the United States." During the presidential campaign, Kerry had argued that poor security conditions in Iraq were hindering the organisation of the January 30 vote. He also criticised the management of the conflict by Bush, pointing out shortcomings in equipment & protection for troops.

Look especially at what the soldiers said: their “good work is not getting reported.” I don’t think that’s what kerry wanted to hear.... Laughing It will be quite interesting to see what he says when he comes back...

Quote:
“Kerry visits Iraq to monitor war firsthand,” Boston Globe, 1/6/05
BAGHDAD -- Sen.. Kerry, who made criticism of the Bush admin.'s Iraq policy a central theme of his presidential campaign, arrived in the war-torn capital yesterday on a solo fact-finding mission to the region. Kerry visited with soldiers from MA, US intelligence officials, & Iraqi officials at the start of a two-day swing through the Iraqi capital & other parts of the country. The veteran MA senator said he wanted to see for himself whether the country was moving toward stability or deeper into chaos, and the best way to learn was to seek information firsthand.

This irks me that he has to “see for himself..if the country is moving deeper into chaos” -- A query like that should not even be stated publicly. It questions the work of our troops in a negative way -- gives glee to the enemy that they are a “worry” to the U.S. There have been innumerable Pentagon briefings on what’s happening in Iraq and there is the US Central Command and DOD websites with more information than one can read to find out “what is happening.”

Yet, rather than stating that he wanted to discuss with our commanders & troops their progress in controlling the problems and readying for the elections -- which would be positive words for our war effort -- he thinks he can determine - for himself, because one cannot trust our military to tell the truth of course -- from a 2-day visit what the situation is. The fact is that “going deeper into chaos” is NOT AN OPTION for the U.S. and we don't need him over there "looking (and hoping) to see if it is." But unfortunately, the opinion of this man will be touted upon his return as having validity of some sort.

Quote:
“US Sen. John Kerry Visits Troops in Iraq,” Voice of America, 1/6/05
U.S. Sen. & former Dem. presidential nominee John Kerry has visited American troops in Iraq while on a two-day fact-finding visit to the war-torn country. ... He declined to compare the insurgency in Iraq with the one he faced in Vietnam as a Navy lieutenant 30 years ago. He also made a stop in neighboring Jordan, where he met with King Abdullah.

As far as "declining" to "compare" Iraq and Vietnam from the perspective of all of his personal experience "in battle" -- give him time.

I now await his comments & speeches upon his return to see what ammunition he has acquired on his trip for his personal use in his continuing mission to undermine our efforts and work towards U.S. surrender -- in Iraq and in the wider war against the terrorists.

Kerry is at it again. Stealing the honor of the troops by tearing down their accomplishments for his own selfish political gain. Mr. Kerry I wish you would just stay the hell away from our troops. Twisted Evil

It must be my suspicious, skeptical nature but I found the photos a bit telling. All reveal Silky Pony with only one to five personnel and not one toothy smile, not even a crooked, tight-lipped grin. I believe his publicist erred by not exhibiting him happily strutting in front of the thousands of cheering, applauding and whistling soldiers who adore him. Or at least a photo of Silky in front of Massachusetts troops who are thankful for him. What's that all about? Were these the only ones from Massachusetts or could it be...

Now to the caption:

They called me Silky Pony when I was in the cavalry. It was a secret.
or
I actually had some of those too, before I threw them over a fence. I have photos.
or
I wore this jacket in Cambodia and have the hat to match. It was a secret.

No smiles for the four or five troops with whom he met. But look at the horde here and the toothy smile. I guess that tells you who adores whom.

Kerry travels to West Bank for Palestinian election
LOLITA C. BALDOR, Associated Press Writer

Friday, January 7, 2005

(01-07) 08:45 PST WASHINGTON (AP) --

Democratic Sen. John Kerry, who lost his bid for president in the November election, will be in the West Bank for the Palestinian election on Sunday and is expected to visit a polling place.

Kerry, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is on a two-week trip to the Middle East. He has visited Baghdad and met with military leaders in Iraq.

Palestinians will be electing a president to replace Yasser Arafat, who died Nov. 11. The latest polls show interim Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas with a wide lead over democracy activist Mustafa Barghouti.

Because of his travels, Kerry was not in Washington on Thursday as Congress affirmed President Bush's election victory, certifying the 286-251 Electoral College vote. A total of 270 votes are needed to win.

While in Israel, the four-term Massachusetts senator will meet with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, veteran Labor Party leader Shimon Peres and Bethlehem Mayor Hanna Nasser, who is the Central Elections Commission president.

In addition to stops in Israel and Iraq, Kerry's trip includes visits to Kuwait, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. He last visited the Middle East in January 2002.

Kerry meets Assad in Damascus
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
DAMASCUS, Syria

Quote:
US Senator John Kerry said Saturday after talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad he is hopeful that strained US-Syrian relations can be improved. Assad in return assured Kerry he is interested in dialogue with Washington.

The former Democratic presidential candidate, who arrived in Damascus Friday, met for two hours with Assad before meeting separately with Foreign Minister Farouk a-Sharaa.

The talks centered on the situation in Iraq and how to prevent militants from entering Iraq through Syria.

"I think we found a great deal of areas of mutual interest, some common concerns and some possibilities for initiatives that could be taken in the future to strengthening relationship between the US and Syria," Kerry told reporters after meeting with a-Sharaa.

"I can assure you that I leave here with a sense that we can improve our relationship. There are significant possibilities, particularly with the elections in Iraq and the elections in the West Bank," Kerry said. "This is the moment of opportunity for the Middle East, for the US and for the world. I hope that we would seize that opportunity."

Kerry said there were "still concerns" that need to be addressed. "But I came away confident that the president and foreign minister are interested in moving in the right direction, and I am hopeful they will," he said.

Assad stressed "the importance of dialogue between the two sides over all issues under discussion, especially those of common interest," Syria's official news agency reported without elaborating.

Kerry's visit comes amid strained US-Syrian relations, particularly over accusations by American and Iraqi interim government officials that Damascus is doing too little to stop border infiltration. Washington also accuses Syria of backing Palestinian militant groups opposed to Israel.

Syria denies both claims but says it can't fully control its long, porous border with Iraq and regards Palestinian militants as fighters opposed to Israel's illegal occupation of Arab territories.

Kerry said he and Assad also discussed issues of importance to the region and to both countries, including Iraq, security, Lebanon and weapons of mass destruction.

"We discussed the war on terror and a number of issues between our countries with respect to economics and economic reform and the future of our relationship," he said.

Later, as Kerry was about to get into his car outside the Foreign Ministry building, 13-year-old Mustafa al-Nabulsi approached him with a drawing of the senator as a soldier in his Vietnam days.

"You have made me much more important than I was, though. You made me a general," Kerry told the teen.

"I wish you were the president," al-Nabulsi responded in English.

"Thank you very much. So do I. Thank you for this," Kerry said. He asked for the boy's address, and al-Nabulsi gave him his mobile number.

A few months ago, Washington imposed sanctions on Syria under an act accusing Damascus of seeking weapons of mass destruction, a charge Syria denies, and hosting Palestinian groups Washington deems terrorist.

In September, the UN Security Council passed a resolution calling on Syria to withdraw its troops from Lebanon and dismantle the Syrian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah guerrilla group.

More recently, US President George W. Bush has warned Syria and Iran against "meddling" in the internal affairs of Iraq.

Kerry arrived from Iraq, where he met US troops in the volatile northern city of Mosul, the scene of a suicide bombing last month on a military base that killed 22 people, including 14 US soldiers and three American contractors.

I suppose that flag/banner says something? But it sure looks like kerry --"man on a solo mission, basher of the U.S. president abroad and consorter with nefarious sorts that send terrorists into Iraq to kill our soldiers, seeker of the enemy's 'peace terms' to bring home and champion" -- is holding a WHITE FLAG. (How appropriate a symbol for him.)

He wouldn't allow anyone else to travel with him -- but I am assuming the State Dept has someone there? I am assuming no one allowed this traitor to speak alone with Middle Eastern leaders. Anyone know?

It is getting sickening! I heard he's assisting in the elections with the Palestinians along with Carter....

Does he really think Assad is telling him the truth? What a snowjob! He is doing the exact same thing he did back during the Vietnam days. Going to our enemies and trying to cut deals with them.. No deals for Assad, he needs to go, along with the Baath Party that has a hold on the Syrian people...

He's just eating the whole thing up... Assad lying to his face and he thinks he's making progress by speaking to that despot... What a jerk!!!

I would imagine the State Dept has something to do with the trip, but you know how gullible they are in the evil regime dept.. The State Dept has grand ideas regarding "peace" talks with despots also.. Sometimes I wonder what side they are on...

I'm glad Condi is set to take over Powell position.. I hope she makes it through the grilling needed to be appointed..

Just heard on Fox News this morning (Sunday, Jan. 9) that the holdout Sunnis have submitted a proposal that they will not boycott the elections in Iraq.......provided......The U.S. will agree to a date for withdrawal of Coalition troops.
Coincidence?........ Kerry has been in Iraq for the last week?....... Sounds eerily like 1971 terms from the NV and VC folks in Paris presented by Kerry upon his return from Paris.
I knew that POS would met with the enemy.
