Thank you both. I am humbled.

GenrXr,

From the article you recently posted on this forum as quoted below and on your website, it appears that you are a feverous advocate of the right to life. Maybe some deep personal experiences to draw from? I would dare say the majority of us here lean in that direction also. Also would venture to say that combat soldiers would much rather settle an issue than fight a war.

However, there are those circumstances when one must stand up to evil aggression. When doing so there can be NO pussyfooting around. In Vietnam we allowed the politicians to limit our forcefulness which in turn drug out the war to the point many became disenchanted. Those very vocal protestors were essently the squeeky wheel. The lack of total committment in the Johnson administration allowed the communist, leftist, socialist, MSM and others to totally undermine our countrys resolve.

Only when Nixon was elected and supported by the "Silent Majority" did things began to change. To win, Nixon had to become brutal. Thats when the large bombing campaigns (800 lb gorilla?) began and forced North Vietnam to the table. He understood what it would take.

I must say that the combatants who preceeded me in the years 1964 to about 1971 had totally eliminated the threats from the Viet Cong and had actually won the TET 68 offensive. By the time I was fighting in 1972 North Viet Nam had to use virtually every one (except one) of their main force NVA divisions in their failed Easter Offensive of 1972. We and the South Vietnamese soundly defeated the NVA.

I hold extreme prejudice against those liberals/communist who undermined our sacrifices. (Fonda, Kerry & ilk) They essentially set up the defeat of South Vietnam by lobbying for removal of any support. The SVN essentially ran out of bullets. Maybe a better analogy would be that the leftist pulled the feeding tube.

Your analogy of Pol Pot to the Terri Schaivo case is a good one. Had the leftist not pulled the plug on South Viet Nam, it very possibly would have survived and more than kikely the "Killing Fields" of Cambodia would never have occurred.

Have also noticed that you may be a gamer? Sure hope that you are not just playing.

wpage, You are a very powerful writer.

Thank you, for reminding me there are still strong warriors willing and able to pen some type for the good of America.

People should visit (SV will not allow this garbage site to appear) and see what is written there as opposed to the thoughtful engagement here.

wpage, give me a few and the type will appear.

GenrXr,

Thanks for the compliment. You are a good writer yourself.

After a little research, have found that some sites have 'The Mighty Jungle' music that may offend.

Are there multiple personalities working here? Where is that 800lb gorilla? Maybe in China or VN, or am I just totally giving to much credit.

Are you talking about my website?

I have never revealed my website to anyone other then friends. And if you somehow did find it and noticed 'The Mighty Jungle' song I agree it is horrible, but the writer has skill and suffers from white boy wants to be urban in music. I tried to explain to him that he has true talent and the harmony in the song is greater then anything I have heard in years. I told him to look at all the successful rappers and the harmony of their songs is copied from dead symphonic composers accompanied with urban lyrics. So why would a talented composer combine garbage lyrics with great composition.

Thus, why it available for people to hear.

Gorilla will drop soon people Smile

Ummmm.... hate to tell ya this, Wink but there's a link to your website and your blog at the bottom of each of your posts. Did you just start that, tonight?

*sigh*

You know, I'm just an ordinary peacetime vet... and I can't imagine how condescending your posts must seem to be among our combat veterans. It's offensive to me to be told that I "have no clue."

There's no "gorilla" that could justify this attack on this SGT who is just taking care of business. There's no gorilla. There's just the reality of war.

And perhaps I was an Amazon in a past life, because I cheer for our every victory and pray for for the utter desolation and destruction - annihilation - of our enemy.

They are killing the liberators - our precious brethren - and they are killing the innocent people of Iraq.

Read the thread on "Another New Day of Hope and Progress in Iraq" as often as possible. NEWS FLASH! We're winning.

With hearts and minds whenever possible, but with guts and guns when not.

That's war. Stink and sweat and fear and adrenalin and callousness and tenderness and mud and blood... and making your enemy die for his cause while you stay alive to fight for yours.

Pray for our troops. Pray for their complete and total victory over the insurgency.

Ah, well, let's cut him some huss... you know, GenXr has been a solid contributor here and there's no doubt that he is "one of us."

But, I think one of his personal eccentricities matches one of mine - the urge to speak as soon as the spirit moves... it's taken me... ummmm... "a few years" Wink to learn to listen to all sides of a story before taking a stand.

And I still don't always keep that lock on my tongue until I know all sides of a situation! I know from repeated experience is the best way to cope with any distressing situation, but that doesn't mean I'm perfect in following what I've learned. Wink

Give him some time to think it over. Truth be told, I shouldn't have jumped on him and it isn't my intent to badger him - I truly do not want him to remove himself from our group and I don't want to push him into a corner from which he cannot retreat gracefully.

Pray for the protection and care for our troops in harm's way. Pray for understanding among us for what they have to do, so that we can better support them.

Blessings on all of our combat veterans and the people who support them!

I had nothing to add recently to what has been posted – you all cover the subject better than I could – and I would visit this thread daily to see if the 800 pound gorilla had landed.

As Navy_Navy_Navy said – there is no gorilla. We are all being jerked around by GenrXr.

Did GenrXr post a “Ready, Fire, Aim” response to the SGT Ruiz article as Navy_Navy_Navy suggests? Possibly yes do to the tone and content of his first post on 13 April about the article:

“Is this for real? If so I think the government has an issue on their hands and needs to remove this idiot from the field. I am sorry, but I do not buy into the gang bangers make for good warriors. I have met many gang bangers and they are punks which act with group think mentality and I have never met one that is invulnerable to being doved into submission. This Ruiz guy should be Government Issue and a military soldier and trained as such. Not a GI waxing on his street cred giving him the skills to live in war. This is beyond ridiculous.

I have one thing to say to Ruiz. You might be from New York, but if you went to war with someone from Houston and had to reach into your pockets...before your hand left that pocket you'd be laying on the ground wondering what hit you.

This article is so insane.

Someone from the military needs to watch these dumb ***** and their BS talk.”

After numerous posts refuting his position appeared on the thread, he chose to respond (should have just dropped the issue but he did not) on 16 April with the following:

“Ya'll have no clue as to the negative replies to this article...keep waxing on, I will drop a 800lb gorrilla on you once you have dug the dirt deep enough.”

It is now 20 April and still no gorilla. The SGT Ruiz article is a week old and any “negative replies”, as alluded to by GenrXr, have been made days ago.

Whatever answers GenrXr gives us, other than further taunting us about a gorilla; I will not hold any animosity toward him.

Your turn GenrXr.

Regards,
Dick
