ASPG: I signed the petition for myself and 2 other family members. Also, I opened a new topic under Geedunk so this petition would have a separate line under. I think the FEC can do something on this although they are a bipartisan (5 reps. 5 dems) I don't know if they can act on anything but if they get enough letters they will have to act. _________________ Nomorelies Make a donation HERE |

Ya know what might really sink CBS is another forged document from a previous show unrelated to Bush. Too bad nobody watches Shifty Minutes to catch other hoaxes. _________________ John Kerry, R.I.P. (Rot In Paris) |

Skypilot: Sorry, I didn't see your post directly above mine. Mine is showing animated and yours is not. Do you want me to remove mine so you can fix yours and it will not be a duplicate? (BTY, it's terrific)
I copied it from powerline using the "copy image location" mouse click and then when I pasted it into the document I clicked the Img button above before and after pasting the image. _________________ Nomorelies Make a donation HERE |

Both showed animated for me. But, then again, I'm on Firefox, which is a whole lot more fault tolerant than MSIE. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

I'm also using Mozilla Firefox and can see both images animated.
I guess we can look for more "memos" ordering Bush to sign up with a Boston-area unit when he left his Texas unit in 1973 to attend Harvard Business School. The Boston Globe is running that story and says Mr. Bush never signed up with a Boston unit. (maybe it was because he had finished his commitment, but someone else can verify that if that is the case.)
...funny, every time I was sent somewhere, I got ORDERS, not "memos"....details, details..... _________________ Find the perfect babysitter, petsitter, or tutor -- today! |

Since he already had completed all his hours for the entire year -- and actually completed enough hours in 5-1/2 years to equate to 15 *years* of NG service, they probably granted him an early out. All he'd be doing is flying a desk, and with the war winding down, and RIFs in the works, I'm sure they wouldn't insist he report to Boston. No sense in it. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

Let's go back to Feb. 2004 when Dan Rather promised he had not gotten to the bottom of GWB's TANG service and wanted more documents about his time in the Alabama Guard. Start reading at this website and you can see that Dan Rather has had it out for Bush for a long, long time:

And interesting take from the Latino side:
Quote: | The Sliming of the President
By Raoul Lowery Contreras
The brawl among Washington reporters and President Bush has reached new lows with the constant sliming by sleazy partisan non—veteran reporters on the President’s honorable service as a Texas Air National Guard officer.
This question is of paramount importance among Hispanics because military service ranks so high among this, the fastest growing segment of the American population and a segment that, among combat arms units, has a higher percentage of troopers than their share of the population, according to Department of Defense information.
Recalling that Hispanics gave President Bush an 89% approval rating, higher in fact than among other Americans, after the attack of September 11th, Hispanics need to know whether allegations by Democratic operatives about the President are true or not. Did President Bush serve well in the Texas Air National Guard, yes, or no? |

Here is another clue I just dredge out of the net
Quote: | The re-examination of Bush's records by the Globe, along with interviews with military specialists who have reviewed regulations from that era, show Bush's attendance at required training drills was so irregular his superiors could have disciplined him or ordered him to active duty in 1972, 1973 or 1974. But they did neither. In fact, Bush's unit certified in late 1973 that his service had been "satisfactory" -- just four months after Bush's commanding officer wrote that Bush had not been seen at his unit for the previous 12 months. |
Could the phonied up documents be the handiwork of these people at the Boston Globe? Interesting tidbit from the following address:

Actually, the question SHOULD be "Did President Bush serve well as Commander in Chief the last three years, yes, or no?"
To my mind, the very fact that President Bush does NOT hammer on his military service (which I may remind you, less than 3% of the American popluation EVER serves in ANY military branch), speaks louder than words. The words "Honorable Discharge" are more than sufficient to answer the first question, and his deeds and actions of his term in office more than sufficient to answer the second. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

More background from the net:
Quote: | National Guard Watch
Some catching up on the last week's news:
On Saturday, as Bradley Graham wrote in The Washington Post: "The Pentagon announced yesterday that it had found payroll records related to President Bush's time in the National Guard -- records that earlier this month were reported accidentally destroyed -- but the discovery did nothing to resolve the dispute over Bush's military service in 1972 and 1973."
The Pentagon said it had inadvertently announced that the records had been inadvertently destroyed.
As blogger Kevin Drum put it: "That's a lot of inadvertent-ness."
We're still waiting for what could be the mother-lode of documents: Microfilm of all Bush's personnel records with the Texas Air National Guard. The Associated Press is suing for access. |
