Billionaires Secretly Met in Aspen to Defeat Bush
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/10/19/131508.shtml
Quote:
In the days following the Democratic National Convention in Boston this past August, several billionaire Democratic activists secretly met at the famed Aspen Institute in Colorado.

The purpose of their clandestine meeting was "to use their fortunes to engineer the defeat of President George W. Bush," The New Yorker magazine reports in its most recent edition.

Among the attendees were John Sperling,
Also present were Herb and Marion Sandler from California

Issue 12.02 | February 2004

Quote:
In 1994, John Sperling rubbed the lamp, and his company went public. The IPO of the Apollo Group, parent company of the for-profit University of Phoenix, netted him almost half a billion dollars.

Quote:
Sperling read a newspaper account speculating that a gene responsible for dramatically extending the lifespans of worms could also be found in humans. Sperling, then 77, wanted to know more.
For the past seven years, Sperling has quietly assembled an unorthodox team of researchers poised to use all relevant technology - including, ultimately, therapeutic cloning, stem cell medicine, and genetic engineering - to alleviate human suffering and the fear of death. Sperling oversees the effort by doling out funds from his own fortune.

Quote:
…first move was to form Kronos Group, a for-profit medical practice catering to the wealthy. The Kronos clinic opened in 1998 in an upscale Scottsdale, Arizona, shopping mall. At the clinic, which looks more like a luxury boutique hotel than a medical facility, patients pay $4,500 to undergo a battery of specialized diagnostic tests….~ 2003, the five-year total was an estimated $37 million, with a base of 8,000 patients
.

Quote:
He says he doesn't seek confrontation, but he's happy to take on the Bush White House, especially on issues like therapeutic cloning and stem cells.

More names from the secret meeting:

Herb and Marion Sandler from California. Golden West Financial Corporation , a California financial institution reportedly worth $95 billion.

Quote:
On Sept 28, 2004 each gave $250,000 ($500,000 total)
On July 30, Marion gave $509,321
On July 30, Herb and Marion gave $1,018,642

Thats near $2.3 Million! Invested in Stem Cells Initiative from the Sandlers alone since July, 2004...

Sperling's investment in these areas runs into the multiple millions...

so Hanoi Jane has contributed $13 million to Kerry. It almost makes me doubt the sincerity of her "apology" to the Vietnam vets.

Kerry only met Jane Fonda once? Well he didn't actually meet her, he was just a a rally in a distance from her. Fox knew her contribution and reported it and then it was dropped.

Interesting thing about the Stem Cell Backing...So much money there...the above is probably only the tip of the iceburg...

One other thing required, at least at present...Human embryo...

Kerry supports Cloning, Stem Cell, Abortion (at least he says he ain't necessarily agin it...or maybe he didn't...who can tell with him).

27.5 mil 527 contribs from just 2 of them at the Aspen meeting???
whoa

Didnt I read that Kerry had a supposed "private" phone call with Soros in Colorado also? I'm not sure it relates to this specific meeting, but I think it may. I read about it on the SwiftVet forum I'm pretty sure.

Ord33...not your particular reference, but note these quotes from

THE MONEY MAN
by JANE MAYER

Can George Soros’s millions insure the defeat of President Bush?
Issue of 2004-10-18
Posted 2004-10-11
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?041018fa_fact3

Quote:
Quote:
“In our conversation, Soros tiptoed around his personal feelings for John Kerry, although he has known him socially for a number of years. Throughout the campaign, Soros has maintained a careful distance from Kerry, since the independent political groups he had funded are legally required not to coördinate their activities with the candidate. But both Soros and Kerry own houses in Sun Valley, Idaho, and they spent an afternoon in December, 2001, together, discussing Kerry’s ambition to run for President. At the time, Kerry was preparing a major foreignpolicy statement. “I helped him with it,” Soros told me.”
If Kerry wins, Soros will be in a unique position. He told me that he would not accept any offers of a government appointment. “I’m not looking for a job,” he said, then joked, “I don’t believe in working.” But, he added, “I would be very happy to advise Kerry, if he’s willing to listen to me, and to criticize him, if he isn’t. I’ve been trying to exert some influence over our policies, and I hope I’ll get a better hearing under Kerry.”
Quote:
Soros had already compiled a list of specific notions about how to solve the crisis in Iraq which he’d like the next President to consider. He and Leslie H. Gelb, the president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, had worked out a plan calling for summit talks on Iraq, under U.N. auspices, which would include neighboring countries. The two men envisioned that Iraq could be divided along ethnic lines into largely autonomous regions, united by a federal government that would distribute oil revenues. “It’s purely an idea, but one I’d support, and advocate,” Soros said. He also told me that he would push for eliminating Bush’s tax cuts.

Frank Mankiewicz, a former aide to George McGovern and Robert Kennedy, told me, “It’s tough when you realize guys like Soros have so much money. Billions! I can’t believe there’s an election that can’t be won for that kind of money.”
