I figure someone owes me a suitcase, but skeptical as to whether or not I'll see one. Regardless, this is no way for any traveler to be treated.

Remember,

You can largely thank the Islamofascist Terrorists and their appeasers and supporters (a.k.a., the American Left and the Democratic Party) for this 'inconvenience.'

Rolling Eyes ..yeah. all the deomecrats I know are terrorists. Rolling Eyes

Sir,

Perhaps you should turn them in to Homeland Security.

I would if my previous post was not sarcasm.

That you answered my rather sarcastic post in the way you did is a sign of something, but I'll leave it up to other readers to decide exactly what.

However, I will afford you a lesson in emoticons: Twisted Evil means "Twisted", a.k.a., both contempt and sarcasm.

Best,

FDL

ok, I'll take the lesson in emoticons. I'm not above saying I didn't know that one. sarcasm runs in my family, in increasing doses. I still hope you get your suitcase.

Two things to remember:

    The gun was a replica pistol.

    TSA regulations permit carrying a real firearm in checked luggage, provided that the firearm is unloaded, locked and has been inspected by TSA and has a card in the case stating that (among other things).

TSA is responsible for making an effort to locate the passenger to unlock the bag if further inspection is required. They appear to have failed there.

You're right;

I just went to www.tsa.gov, and they only say that the carrier must locate the passenger to unlock a bag for inspection if it contains a declared firearm.

Apparently, the replica didn't count since it didn't have to be declared, so they just broke the locks.

In fact, TSA is now recommending that, if you want to lock your checked luggage, you use one of the types of locks for which they have master keys.
