Look, I too know the joke who's punchline is "First you have to get the ass's attention," but to be honest, I don't think we're really doing that here. Or ever will.
I do think, from reading hundreds of posts in the last week, that we're getting the attention of an awful lot of people who didn't have a lot of info on or strong feelings about John Kerry as a candidate.
I'd like (personally, not as a moderator) to ask for everyone to think before posting, and to focus on issues and facts; please don't let this turn into an emotional rant a la Dennis Miller, because if that happens, this site can easily be dismissed as the ravings of the right-wing equivalent of DU.

Although it may be a bit off topic, I would like to share something. I am 33, USAF Vet 91 - 95, currently a waiter at a popular restaurant and going to college. This particular restaurant that I work at sent me out of town to work at one of their other restaurants. Much to my suprise one night, I walked up to the table and you will never guess who was sitting at one of my tables. YES IT WAS CAPTAIN SCOTT O'GRADY. It was the highlight of my night. We got to talk a little bit and found out we have some things in common. Besides Air force, he is a born again Christian. That was the most exciting part for me. He was very humble and I know he is not guided by partisan meaness. We are being ruled by the minority. Our silence and political correctness makes us ignorant.
Scott O'Grady is CREDIBLE and without a doubt a HERO. His story is fresh. I think he should keep saying exactly what he is saying. Eventually they will rerun the clips and footage of his rescue and return to safety. He will speak to audiences right after they play the national anthem. He will touch the hearts of even the liberal of liberals. They will at least have to take the time to consider checking out the claims of the Swiftees.
I can't wait for someone like Senator John McCain, Michael Moore, or any newscaster to smear Captain Scott O'Grady. That will fuel the fires of many other silent veterans. I say lets find Scott O'Grady and encourage him to keep on keeping on.
Everyone knows that Scott had to eat ants to survive. That may not be a big deal to alot of veterans. It is a big deal to a bunch of nonmilitary sissy flip flopping voters who couldnt fight their way out of a french old folks home.
Does anyone have Captain Scott O'Grady's email address or how we can reach him? I want to send him a letter of support. I hope that others will too. |

I believe wholeheartedly that Kerry is a traitor. But if I say it, the public will dismiss me as a 20 year old moron.
You believe Kerry is a traitor, but if you say it, the public will dismiss you as disgusting human beings for forsaking your brother in arms for political gain.
If OGrady says it, people will listen.
I say we let him say it and rally our support and nods of assent behind him. |

They scream "Bush Lied People Died" Isn't that an accusation of treachery?'
After all, Kerry lied in '71 and 2.5 million died in the Killing Fields.
Seems the same to me.

But note how they don't say what O'Grady stated was false.
Just "out of bounds of proper campaign dialog." Typical ad-hominem attack follows.

The proper response is to laugh and say that "you sound like a bunch of crooked, shyster lawyers who know that whey they can't challenge the facts on their merit, the thing to do is to attack the witness."
