I might agree that the MSM is centered somewhere around the middle of the road if the road is properly defined: Liberty on one side, and on the other Communism, Totalitarianism, Anarchy. The middle of this road is Socialism.

I think that both the Democratics and Republicans have their sights on Liberty, though from different points of view. The trouble is that for the past few years the Democratic Party has been highjacked by people of low moral character, and the MSM, which leans rather strongly toward global Socialism, loves people of low moral character.

Socialism, Communism, Totalitarianism, and Anarchy are hotbeds for people of low moral character because by limiting or denying individual freedom they rebuke individual responsibility. The MSMs leanings seem to me to be feed by a desire to ignore responsibility, as we have so plainly seen with CBS.

Good point on what the true "middle of the road" is in todays major media. When the middle is between Capitalism and Socialism (where I've always considered the middle to be), there can be excellent debate and a true give and take, constructive tension, on where we should fall on the continuum, never being the pure form of either. There is a lot of common ground in between these two idealogies and most Americans cluster around some mean in between the two. "Social Capitalism" or Capitalism with Conscience actually make sense and generally works in a messy, give and take democratic system.

If the continuum now includes Communism on the far left, this throws the whole thing out of balance. There is no compromise between Capitalism and Communism. Capitalists hate Communists and vice versa. Therefore there can be no middle ground, just battleground. Hate is no way to run a democracy!

The good news is that I don't believe that Americans have actually shifted to the left (as much as media and education systems have), and I do believe that there is resistance and possibly a backlash in the works. Folks like Zell Miller (and there are many of them) can take their party back and/or another party can emerge.

So, Swifties (to bring this back on topic), you are still fighting communism! Perhaps that contributes to the anger, and more importantly to the resolve. Time for another donation and put my pennies where my mouth is to support "good" media and not support "bad" media.

There are many parallels between what the media is currently doing to George W. Bush and what they did to Senator Joseph McCarthy. The difference is there was no pajama press to provide a counterbalance to the media of the 1940’s. Please read Ann Coulter’s book, “Treason”. The only victims of McCarthyism was Joe McCarthy and the truth. He has since been proven correct in his assessments and George Bush is correct now.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Not only are we fighting the terrorists now, but we are still fighting the Communist propaganda fed left. The mutual goals of the terrorist and the Communists are to rid the world of Capitalism and Christianity.

The Communists are too dim-witted to realize that if they are successful in getting rid of us, the final fight will come down to them and the extremist Muslim terrorists. Who would you bet on, the antiwar pacifist useful fools or the terrorists?

In several European countries, the battle is already going on between the Left and the extremist Muslims in major cities. Remember, in Europe and other parts of the world, the Liberals are the right wing party. The extremist Muslims are winning. There are currently large extremist Muslim districts in several European cities that the police will not enter.

I sincerely believe the future of the world hangs in the balance with this election. The Europeans will not fight for their own society. How can John Faux Kerry say with a straight face that they will join to fight with the USA under his leadership? He is either totally stupid or a Communist sympathizer. Neither alternative qualifies him to be our Commander-In-Chief.

Thanks, Jungle_rat, for that interesting info about Carl Bernstein.
Although I can sometimes tolerate Bob Woodward, I can not bear
to even listen to his Watergate pal. I saw him on Hannity the other
night and I kept muting the sound every time he opened his mouth.
The fact that both his parents were Communists and he is PROUD
of it says a lot about his character (or lack of it).

As for FargoUT, you are out of your mind if you believe the MSM
is "middle-of-the-road"!

How to deal with MSM has been on my mind too, but I've got another angle. The FCC issues the licenses for all television and radio broadcasting, and in those licenses is a clause that states that the stations will act in a public trust capacity to disseminate critical information to the public. (I don't know the exact wording of the clause, which I'm sure would be helpful here.) When MSM refused earlier this year to carry a press conference called by President Bush, I emailed the FCC and informed them that I beleived the stations were in violation of that clause under the license of the FCC, and they emailed me a terse reply as to how to file a formal complaint (which I unfortunately deleted in disgust).

Basically what I'm trying to say is the FCC is in control of MSM, although they sure don't want to admit it, and the FCC is VERY reluctant to actually inforce anything (case in point, Janet Jackson's exposure during the Super Bowl last year.) You really have to light a fire under them, but they can and will eventually respond with enough pressure.

The other thing we could do (after the election) is start an "Expose the MSM" campaign. It's another bloody fight, but at the rate they're going, if they are unchecked along the way, our country will move closer and closer to Socialism because of their biased news coverage and corruption of ideals and morals that do not line up with their "push the envelope" attitude.
