Its the classic Leninist concept. Simple, verifiable fact is "Bourgeois Truth" and is objectively a lie. Truth is whatever serves to advance the revolution, regardless of how it is contradicted by Bourgeois Truth. This, coupled to the Marxian dialectic clarifies how Kerry can flip and flop on both sides of an issue simultaneously.
For spice, add the concept of Repressive Tolerance - i.e. if you try to contradict me, it robs me of my right to free speech.
We've seen this sort before - in Moscow, Beijing, Hanoi and the American university.

I did not look at all of them but, judging from the titles, they probably do not contain anything new...
Also, by no stretch of the imaginagion are there 130 documents there.

There is nothing new that I have seen for several week; people here have been reading and analysing them since they went up. Much of the discussion here centers on these docs, which went up in May IIRC.
I believe someone here counted the pages and found there were about 130 pages in the various documents. Many are multiple page docs. It is not disingenuous to say you have released x number of pages - the Bush campaign did the same thing in ... Feb? Saying they had released over 300 pages.
That said, there are many gaps. There is only one Personnel Casualty Report, for the 20 February shrapnel wound - the one which most agree was earned. There is no Personnel Casualty Report for his first Purple Heart which is the most hotly contested.
One might also wonder if Bush, who did not serve overseas and was not decorated or in combat, could dig up over 300 pages, why can Kerry not come up with more?
The medical records is a real lie-breaker. The last time I checked, there was a statement from a doctor who summarized and quoted Kerry's medical records. That's not the same thing, and prima facie evidence that not all docs are on the site.
Note: I just went on the site and do not see the medical summary any more. Maybe I did not see it among his official records before but someone else? Maybe someone recalls.
I did find the first SS citation which I thought had been removed. It is contained in the multi-document Awards PDF, and the 2nd and third are in a separate SS PDF. |
