CBS News ratings are in the basement. Their local affiliates are rattled. And public trust in the Liberal Media is at a 30-year low.

But, incredibly, CBS News is still scheduled to choose all the questions for the key, final presidential debate on Oct. 13. And Dan Rather will be conducting the post-debate analysis for CBS News!

Please take 5 minutes of your time right now to join tens of thousands of other BoycottCBS.com supporters to turn up the heat even more on CBS News and Dan Rather. Imagine the impact we will have if all of us take these simple steps TODAY!

First: Email the Commission on Presidential Debates and demand that CBS News’ Bob Schieffer be replaced as debate moderator on Oct. 13. The email address is info@debates.org

Feel free to copy this language into your email:

“We demand that you replace CBS News’ Bob Schieffer as moderator of the Oct. 13 presidential debate. CBS was caught peddling phony documents that smeared President Bush, just weeks before election day, and Bob Schieffer was still publicly defending the phony report a full week after critics had discredited it. The American people deserve a fair debate, and CBS News cannot deliver that at this time. To learn more about the outrageous conduct of CBS News, visit BoycottCBS.com.”

The Commission is already under pressure for selecting Schieffer. Tens of thousands of emails raining down on them today will help us make history. (Note: the email address listed above was working this morning, but the Commission could always disable it as thousands of emails bombard them calling for the ouster of CBS News. If your email “bounces,” try this address: jb@debates.org )

Second: CBS has local affiliates around the country that depend on you to watch their programs. Contact your local affiliate today, echoing our demands to them. CBS News.com provides an easy-to-use map to help locate your affiliate. Click here (or paste this link in your browser) to find your local CBS affiliate: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/07/31/utility/main517034.shtml

Call them or email them with a message like this:

“As a viewer in your station’s service area, I demand that you take strong action to clean up the disgraceful conduct at CBS News. CBS was caught peddling phony documents that smeared President Bush, just weeks before election day, and they defended this smear for two weeks. This station, as a paying CBS affiliate, has the power to fix this. We are boycotting CBS News and its advertisers until Dan Rather steps aside and real reforms are made to address the liberal bias at CBS News. To learn more about the outrageous conduct of CBS News, visit BoycottCBS.com.”

Third: once advertisers decide to spend their ad dollars elsewhere, the mess at CBS News will be cleaned up overnight. Click here (or paste this link in your browser) for a list of CBS News advertisers: http://www.boycottcbs.com/advertisers.php You can click directly on the advertiser links to get to their individual contact information. Call or email them with a message like this:

“As a consumer, I demand that you stop subsidizing CBS News with your advertising dollars until they clean up their disgraceful conduct. CBS was caught peddling phony documents that smeared President Bush, just weeks before election day, and they defended this smear for two weeks. We are boycotting CBS News and its advertisers until Dan Rather steps aside and real reforms are made to address the liberal bias at CBS News.”

Fourth: Email a complaint to the Federal Communications Commission about CBS News. The email address is: fccinfo@fcc.gov

Send them a message like this:

“As a U.S. taxpayer, I urge you to investigate and punish CBS News for its outrageous conduct in peddling phony documents that smeared President Bush, just weeks before election day, and then defending this smear for two weeks. You were right to take on CBS for exposing Janet Jackson’s breast to millions of families watching the Super Bowl last year. If a $550,000 penalty was appropriate for that, what should the fine be for trying to unfairly influence a national election? The American people own the airwaves; CBS merely leases them. We need real reforms at CBS News.”

Fifth: help us turn up the heat further on Dan Rather and the biased liberals at CBS News by making a tax deductible contribution today. Click here (or paste this link in your browser) to reach our secure server: https://www.ddppartners.com/boycottcbs/contribute.php

In the past week, BoycottCBS.com reached more than 10 million Americans through newspapers, talk radio, TV and the internet. We would like to reach another 20 million this week. Your contributions will keep our online advertisements running and will help us continue to grow. Please consider a $10 contribution—and thank you!

Sixth: send this email to everyone who shares your belief in fairness, honesty and media accountability. Your family, friends and coworkers can then send their own emails to the Commission on Debates, CBS News affiliates and advertisers, and the FCC.

We beat CBS last year when they tried to smear former President Ronald Reagan, and together, we are going to beat them again.

The only thing CBS should do on the debates is watch the broadcasts on the TV.

At this point in time I would think that designating Dan Rather as a post debate analysist is just a current face saving move by the CBS network mucky-mucks.

I will place my bets that Rather is already a "roadkill" with CBS. In a very short time he will retire with (dis)grace. Wink

I noted that Rather is still doing the evening news on CBS. Unbelievable. He should be on administrative leave, or whatever they call that, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Unbelievable too that Rather would be doing coverage of the debates on the news. Wonder if anybody will be actually watching him.

Just found out that Rather was given the Boot from the Marine Corps. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and was promplty kicked out a few months latter.... Now I know where his disdain for the Military is coming from. Cudos to the Marine Corps DI's for seeing through this guy.

Didn't keep him from claiming to be a "two-tour Marine" for years. Wink

He was in the National Guard while in college, then enlisted in the Marines and wasn't able to make it through the physical requirements.

B. G. Burkett busted him on it while he was busy debunking Rather's anti-Military, anti-Vietnam vet fraudumentary, "The Wall Within."

Posers. :::spit::::
