Thanks For the Help Kerry, You Maggot

When I came back from Vietnam in late 1970, I was assigned to independent duty as an Officer Selection Officer in Buffalo, NY. Going on campuses to recruit officers for the Marine Corps was not easy under any circumstances, but after the creative John F. (F. as in fraud) Kerry gave his "testimony," both the leftist academic administrations and the goofy students had the perfect story to tell. The Kerry Tales made a challenging task much, much more difficult as we were, in some cases, now denied entrance to schools. (When that occured, we drove up in our own cars, walked on in civilian clothes, changed into our uniforms in the men's room and went into the student unions looking for the Vet's Club. They were great allies!)

Clearly, the inconveniences he created for us pale in comparison to what his lies did to the POWs and the guys slugging it out in the bush. Still, I would very much like to go one on one with the clown who accused all of us of committing atrocities.

It never came to blows, but there were some ugly moments in upstate New York. Speaking of ugly moments, I would be more concerned about facing an attempted murder charge than I would just being kicked out of the debate venue.

We do have to give credit to ole run 'n cut John Kerry for being a large influence on the then current events that you encountered, Jon.
I also remember about that time the ROTC program cadets had to just about go underground and in several cases the university either abolished or suspended the ROTC programs.
