I just read Kerry's statements about his big plan if he is elected. One of his first goals as was stated by him is to "restructure" the military. Now to all of us that have served in the military what exactly does that mean. Kerry has long advocated that he would like the military abolished and or reassigned to the U.N.. Just as Carter, Clinton did before him he will decimate the military, close more bases. Kerry has stated in the past that he would like our military attached to or commanded by the U.N.. I don't exactly recall where I saw or read it but if anyone can point to specific article or ranting that he gave I would appreciate it. I am going off my memory of past statements that he has made. Regardless of anything he has advocated in the past I for one would like a greater explanation as to what he means by "restructuring" the military. Of course he won't explain that in detail unless he is elected, then it's too late. As I see it this isn't just an election, it is about our National security and our way of life. Many other countries claim that Bush is evil, but look at who they are, terrorist havens. Do we really want a President that the terrorists want as our President? The terrorists are banking on Kerry as their great savior, why else would they want to influence our election!! If the terrorists were happy because Bush is the great failure (as the democrats advocate) then why do they want to help Kerry get in? People look at everything Kerry say's and match it to his past rantings and you can see exactly what he has planned, and our way of life is over. Simply stated he is not fit to be CIC and as many of us feel he is not fit to be a citizen of this great Nation. I read his statements on MSNBC.COM from friday. He also said something to the effect of, elections are serious except for Florida. With more comments like that and he won't have to worry about a recount in a State that he doesn't consider important. Look at all of his VVAW statements, voting record, book and recent remarks and my concerns are justifyed. Semper Fi

It's very old quote... up to folks to decide relevance to today for themselves:

http://www.thecrimson.com/printerfriendly.aspx?ref=357339

Quote:
“I’m an internationalist,” Kerry told The Crimson in 1970. “I’d like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations.”

Here's a bit more info from the NY Times... but I think it costs $$ to view the whole article:

Quote:
NATIONAL DESK | February 12, 2004, Thursday
THE 2004 CAMPAIGN: THE MASSACHUSETTS SENATOR; Vietnam-Era Kerry Saw a Military Led by U.N.

By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG (NYT) 309 words
Late Edition - Final , Section A , Page 35 , Column 2
DISPLAYING FIRST 50 OF 309 WORDS - The student newspaper at Harvard University has unearthed a 34-year-old interview with Senator John Kerry, in which Mr. Kerry, then fresh out of Vietnam and an underdog candidate for Congress, suggested that he would cede authority over the military to the United Nations and rein in, or perhaps eliminate, the...

Thanks Keith, I just couldn't remember what context it was in. His latest remarks about restructuring the military concerns me deeply.

How does he plan to recruit them?

How does he plan to do that? SF was unable to train sufficient qualified personnel (the training program isn't for everyone) to maintain 6 ODAs per Company. How does he figure to double SF?

Nothing new or especially striking.

(4) redirect the National Guard for homeland security.

He better hope he gets the Congress to agree. Under the current organization mandated by Congress, the National Guard is essential to extended operations anywhere.

As in industry, "restructuring" is the elite's code word for "downsizing."

He also wrote that he would "provide troops with the best training and most modern equipment and technology."

His senate voting record against many of the weapons systems now in use speaks ill of this statement. Based on that record, he lacks credibility on this issue.
