A letter to the Editor of my local paper, 10/31/04

Letter to the Editor

It has been 143 years since Americans found themselves in so widely an opposing philosophical and political position as we find our selves today. As we approach the election Tuesday, I cannot remember or begin to fathom the degree of opposing philosophical anger that now permeates our society. Political differences have been replaced by openly expressed hatreds.

While many Americans were content to concern themselves with their day to day lives and focus their attention on the war on terrorism, there were millions among us that were focusing their attention and efforts on seizing the 2004 presidential election by any means necessary. Their labor and workings are only now truly being revealed to the average American as we approach the closing days of this election.

This is not an election about candidates, platforms or parties. This is an election to decide the conflict and collision of the radically disparate morals and ideologies that currently divide our citizens. Truth and civility have become casualties and will surely be further trampled beneath the hooves of maniacal and zealous obsession.

Tens of thousands of lawyers stand at the ready to inject further venom and hatred into an already volatile mixture of diatribes and personal attacks. Regardless of the outcome, America has been transformed. We are no longer a homogeneous society sharing and aspiring towards mutual goals and dreams. We have become a nation of partisans either trying to defend against the force of radical societal moral change or rabidly pursuing a by any means necessary mindset of complete socialist conquest.

This election will see violence in America not seen since the American revolution or the prewar election of 1860. We once again find ourselves in diametric opposition of ideals and morals that transcends personal friendships and strains family ties across this nation.

On April 10, 1861 the harbinger of doom that rang out was fired at Fort Sumter, but it had been cast in the months and years before the final act. On November 2nd 2004 another harbinger of things to come will once again ring out across this land. It will be observed in the hatred to spew forth once the issue is finally joined at the polls. How long will it be before we are once again drawn into the abyss of blood on the alter of opposing beliefs and convictions?

Personally, I feel this attitude has been a recurrent undercurrent ever since back in the 60's. Look back at how Nixon was beseiged, Ford was ridiculed, Reagan was vilified, Bush 1 was misled and dumped on and now, Bush 2 is the target of an almost all out assault.

In the meantime, Carter and Clinton got a pass on virtually every step of their administrations. Kerry is receiving that same pass today in the campaign.

I see us in the midst of a very gradual coup de tat' orchestrated by the leftists and those they have placed in our Congress, Courts, media and educational institutions.

This is why it's imperative we do evrything we legally can do to make sure Kerry and his cronies are sent packing.

The communists could not beat us militarily, so they are doing it by infiltration. That's exactly what they were telling us in the 60's.

I agree completely and have posted elsewhere that, win or lose, this body of soldiers must remain in place until Humpty Dumpty is completely neutered. However, if worse comes to worst, Ann Coulter said it best: "We have all the men and all the guns." I'm a little old to be very effective but not too old to quote the President: "Bring it on."

Great posts - I agree wholeheartedly with all of you.

If Kerry loses, I shudder to think what the left in this country will do.

If Bush loses, God forbide, there is going to be such an outrage by his supporters about the media in this country, and we must continue and be even more aggressive in exposing Kerry for what he is. Only when all Americans know the truth about Kerry will they then realize the sham they have fallen for - the absolute corruption of our MSM in covering up all the things we know about Kerry. If at that point there is still no outrage at our media, our country has even more serious problems than the election of Kerry. It's never too late to get the truth out; it's only too late when people won't listen.

I've always heard the Communists would defeat us from within.

Two thoughts:
from the Fifties, I remember Kruschev banging his shoe on the table and yelling "We will bury you!"

that seemed to be funny at the time.

When I got out of the service ('72) a "Firesign Theatre" album had a line where this Japanese guy says "Hey Joe: who wonna-the-seconda-world-war?"

connect the dots.

Hanging on to the morals and principals this country was founded upon is much bigger then my relation ships with my brother and sister who have sided with the enemy.

"It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything."

Joseph Stalin

"Despair is typical of those who do not understand the causes of evil, see no way out, and are incapable of struggle. The modern industrial proletariat does not belong to the category of such classes."
