I just got off the phone with my Dad. He is working the election in Florida.

He told me they found about 100,000 people registered in Florida that were also registered in Ohio and New York.

Did he say what they were going to do about the duplicate registrations and just curious - how did they figure it out? Was there actual communication between states Shocked

It was pulled from voter registration rolls which is public information. The cross checking is continuing...not sure what, if anything, will happen to these individuals (He said mostly Democrats, but a few Republicans)

Dad said he will e-mail me updates as he finds anything out.

I'm wondering why they can't simply contact these people and straighten this out? If their main residence is in one or the other state then purge their name from the appropriate list and if they appear to have been voting in both states arrest and punish them.

I saw a report where the poll officials in FL found absentee ballots that were either forged or didnt' have signatures that matched the ones on file. It seemed as if they just threw them out. Why don't they track these folks down and straighten it out? If they are non existant purge their names from the voter rolls.

To me voter fraud is the true menace. Much easier to fraudulently vote than it is to intimidate someone from voting. If you are afraid to go vote then call someone to go with you or bring a lawyer or a policeman or call your congressional rep....lot's of ways to solve that problem...but people voting twice or cheating with absentee ballots...seems far more probable...at least to me it does.

Can you just imagine the effort to track down 100,000 names, addresses, etc.? If Knighthawk's numbers are correct, this is simply mind-boggling.

Eminently believable.

Florida cast nearly 6M votes (5,963,070) in the last presidential election. 100,000 would be 1.68% of the total. With population growth since, probably more like 1.5% of the expected turnout in this election.

I don't know how many of you have ever visited south and/or central Florida in the winter. I have. There are a HUGE number of folks from Ohio and New York (and the northeast in general) who winter in Florida. The vast majority are retirees.

Retirees from Ohio, New York, the northeast - wonder what their political leanings are likely to be?

It wouldn't surprise me if many of them are registered in both states and vote absentee in one place while voting in person in the other.

Are the voter registration rolls available online? I recently moved from Florida to Kentucky and registered up here in time to vote in this election. I wondered if I would still be on the rolls in Florida or does Kentucky send something to my old voting precinct letting them know that I had registered in another state?

In OK, you have to tell the election officials that you have moved from the state - otherwise - your name is on the rolls for a set period of time. After not voting for a period, the list that you sign asks the worker to ask for your address. Eventually, you are dropped.

It might be too late for them to do anything this year - I would recommend that you call and ask what the procedure is to remove your name. Otherwise, someone may figure it out and cast a vote in your name.

Maybe its just me, but I think these a$$ munchers who are registered in multiple places are deserving a major a$$ thumping and maybe a nice cozy jail cell for a few years...

That's what I was just thinking...I hope someone doesn't vote using my name in Florida. I wish I had thought of this sooner but I just assumed that there was a system in place that would notify the previous state. I wonder if I called the election office in my old county after the election, if they could tell me if my name showed as voting in this election?
