A column in yesterday's Wall Street Journal reinforces the danger of arguing over whether Kerry deserves his medals. This is by Albert Hunt, the Journal's most liberal columnist (the WSJ is conservative in outlook) but it still gets read by a couple of million people.

Sham Charges Against a War Hero
August 5, 2004; Page A11 Excerpt:
"...Somehow these hatchet men -- and women -- want you to believe he faked the first injury, figuring he could get two more Purple Hearts in those treacherous waters -- getting wounded, mind you, not killed -- and then get out."
"They deride his Silver Star, which was pinned on him personally by the commander of U.S. Naval forces in Vietnam, Admiral Elmo Zumwalt; men in his boat say he saved their lives. The Bronze Star was awarded when Lt. John Kerry, wounded, ordered his boat back to pull Army Ranger Jim Rassmann out of the water. All the crewmates on that swift boat that day cite his courage. Yet a TV ad is running this week claiming it's untrue."
------------------------------------
There is PLENTY wrong with Kerry (including his attacks on fellow veterans and his actions after his return from Vietnam, plus the fact that he consorts with known racists, hate-mongering bigots, and/or anti-Semites like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Julian Bond) that makes a FAR stronger case against him. Throwing his medals-- but they weren't his medals-- over the wall, along with the touching Licorice the Hamster story, reinforce the perception that he is a phony and an empty suit. See my page, http://www.stentorian.com/politics/kerry/
Don't forget Michael Moore, who is doing things similar to what Kerry's peace group did in the 1970s. Moore is calling Iraqis who are trying to KILL US TROOPS "Minutemen," and this is from Moore's own Web site. http://www.stentorian.com/politics/moore.html for my leaflet that cites Moore's site. This should be brought to the attention of anyone who has a family member in Iraq.
FAR more should be said about George Soros, the power behind MoveOn.org, especially when the Left says Republicans are funding Swiftvets. I read somewhere that Swiftvets has raised about $150K while Soros is backing MoveOn.org with millions. And Soros has made remarks every bit as embarrassing as what Kerry said about his fellow veterans. http://www.stentorian.com/politics/soros.html for examples. Soros also was convicted of inside trading by a French court; I don't know how France defines that offense but it is a felony here.
"Soros is now using his fortune to not only to unseat President George Bush, but also to challenge the United States' role in the world. ...Soros has obscenely likened President Bush to Hitler and his administration to Nazi Germany and has described the United States as "a danger to the world." http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?ID=151
"Soros is intent on making American sovereignty subject to international will. He calls America's actions to protect its citizens from terrorism as "supremacist." In its place he would have the U.S. adopt the "Soros doctrine." Under the Soros doctrine, U.S. interests would be replaced by international "collective action."" http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?ID=151
Sun Tzu said, "Attack what the enemy cannot defend!"
The other side is using very bad judgment, though, by using lawyers to try to intimidate people into not running the ad. They may well undo the work that is being done by Albert Hunt. Hunt puts up a credible defense for Kerry but attempts to muzzle the ad reinforce the perception that its contents are TRUE.
