During the 60's there was a dramatic political shift which is still in place today. If you look at the record of John F. Kennedy and George Bush you will be hard pressed to see any difference ideologically between the two men. Both cut taxes, spend like inebreiated sailors, and are internationalists, yet how is it the left cannot stand Bush and loves Kerry? The answer is not simple and somewhat frightening. Since the 60's only 4 men have stood out as conservatives which have held a high level of office. Recently, William F. Buckley stepped down as the owner of The National review and has been praised in the media as the father of modern day conservatism when in fact he is not. Buckley is definately one of the greatest conservative thinkers of the 20th century, but the title of founder of modern day conservative thinking belongs to Russel Kirk who wrote "the Consevative Mind". The 4 high level political thinkers who in my mind have been Kirk conservatives are Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich, and currently Dennis Hastert. Not exactly a large list of conservative thinkers and with Goldwater losing his bid for the white house because he said he would bomb hanoi and win the war, Reagan giving huge spending compromises to the entrenched left to win the cold war, Newt being run out of town because of standing on principle with few to support him and soon to be a defensive Hastert on the run once the left gets ahold of his book "Speaker", I am worried we are defending the soul of the country with few soldiers. The point is Bush is a liberal of yesteryear and the left has become nothing more then a socialist party. The left doesn't care about the issues only the power over the people. Take a look at any democratic protest or assembly and you will find socialist party this communist party that organization. The demonstrations of the 60's were funded in large part by the KGB in a move to cut this countries collective throat from within. Whenever I see tapes of Kerry in his congress testimony or debate with O'neill, images of the U.S.S.R come into my mind. The left hold up as their poster boys for liberal thinking Howard Zinn (socialist who gives the left all their America is a imperialist pig rhetoric) and Naom Chomsky who calls himself a libertarian socialist (hehe if ever there was a oxymoron this would be it). These are relics of the anti-american left of the 60's people bent on the destruction, rather then the prosperity of our great nation. The SwiftVet people are doing a great service to our country by standing on principle and giving their view of Kerry. The crowd Kerry ran with after returning home to protest the war is in itself an indictment of the mans character and principles, yet to learn of the truth behind his actions during his limited stay "in country" is indictitive as well. Please read this article to further examine where im coming from. http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/pacepa200402260828.asp

a small excerpt...During my last meeting with Andropov, he said, wisely, "now all we have to do is to keep the Vietnam-era anti-Americanism alive." Andropov was a shrewd judge of human nature. He understood that in the end our original involvement would be forgotten, and our insinuations would take on a life of their own. He knew well that it was just the way human nature worked.

sorry for my spelling no sc on this comp Smile take care everyone!

I am certain you have hit the nail soundly on its head. My nephew sent me down that same article at the time I originally learned of this site. He got it from a Prof who actually teaches objectively up in Mass..

I'd posted it here a while back and it's come back round today. Check out this thread:

http://www.swiftvets.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1450

The article is printed in full.

The communist 'ideal' has utterly failed, unfortunately the mechanics put in motion 40 years back to 'cut America's throat from within' are still very much with us.

Sadly for free Russia they are also dealing with this in the guise of the
new leader Putin, born, bred and raised pure KGB. No conspiracy theory, just cold simple facts staring us all in the face clad in the garb of altruism.

Hello Jack,

Sorry I didn't see your previous thread and make note of it. It gives me comfort though that your nephew is in a class where the professor would actually bring some critical thinking into a course on objectivity. Hint of sarcrackial Smile

I would also like to make note of how the baby boomers in rebelling against their more conservative preceding generation have caused the cancer of anthropocentric thinking to spread to further generations. My main beef with Kerry is the transparent opportunistic nature of the man. He is a prime example of his generation and the ills of which the current generation is suffering in the self is more important then the others. There are tons of books on the shelves about becoming a better person and relatively none about lending a helping hand. My grandfather on mothers side recently passed away and at the funeral the children were able to see for the first time the medals he was given for his effort in the pacific theater. Never in his lifetime did he discuss these medals or what he did in the war. All that was ever mentioned was grandma explaining he was a war hero. My father who is a vietnam vet explained to me most of the medals were the common ones that all soldiers get. For instance he said he received medals for where he was which campaign and so forth and unit awards or commendations, but then he said "8 of those medals were special accomodation medals. The kind of medals I never got while in Vietnam. Those are the medals for being the real deal." My father was never in combat in vietnam. The point being I revere the stoic nature of my grandfathers silence and despise this hyping by Kerry of look at me I am a war hero. Kerry is a polar opposite of both my grandfathers. My grandfather on my fathers side was also in the pacific theater and was one of the navy's frog men. He was one of the first to land on the beach at Iwo Jima. Like my other grandfather he was also very stoic and didn't discuss his medals or actions in the war. This just wasn't the nature of most people at this time in our countries history. I should say though there are many people like my grandparents still with us and continuing to fight the right battle but their numbers are growing smaller and they have to carry a heavier burden. I consider the swiftvets part of this group of people fighting for the health of our country and wish them all the best for their noble campaign.

I just have a problem with the reference to Bush being like JFK. Bush has morales and is family oriented where JFK was lacking. JFK was a well lets say less than faithful kind of President. The Kennedy family got their fortunes from crime. Bush has always been above the board and faithful to his wife and country. Semper Fi.

I agree with you marine! Thing is although I support Bush there is no doubt he is a weak leader. But what other choices do we have? We have none thus the reason why we must continue to fight the communist party platform. Kerry is a truly evil man of opportunistic nature, Our great counrty can never be lead by another one of these monsters. Vote Bush for principle People!
