Found this on Chuck Muth's website. A week or so ago someone posted in this forum about a call from a WVA Senator. I thought this might be a useful tidbit for those interested in the petition for indictment against Kerry, particularly:

waging war against the US government, violating the Command of Army Act, libeling ______, filing false sworn statements, charges of perjury.

LOWERING THE THRESHOLD FOR IMPEACHMENT

(Note: The following is primarily for the benefit of Nevadans who are
watching the ongoing witch-hunt against Republican state Controller
Kathy Augustine, who was hit with three articles of impeachment last week
over charges that her office staff did campaign work for her in 2002.
It was sent to Nevada newspapers last week.)

Dear Editor:

With the impeachment of state Controller Kathy Augustine now official,
perhaps this would be a good time to put things in a little historical
perspective. Here's a sample of impeachments in American history:

* John Pickering, U.S. District Court for the District of New
Hampshire: Impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives, 1803, on charges of
mental instability and intoxication on the bench.

* West H. Humphreys, U.S. District Court for the Middle, Eastern, and
Western Districts of Tennessee: Impeached by the U.S. House of
Representatives, 1862, on charges of waging war against the U.S. government.

* President Andrew Johnson: Impeached by the U.S. Congress, 1868, on
charges of violating the Command of the Army Act and libeling Congress.

* Mark H. Delahay, U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas:
Impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives, 1873, on charges of
intoxication on the bench.

* Harry E. Claiborne, U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada:
Impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives, 1986, on charges of
income tax evasion.

* Gov. Evan Mecham: Impeached by Arizona House of Representatives,
1988, on charges of obstruction of justice, filing false sworn statements
and misuse of funds.

* Alcee L. Hastings, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of
Florida: Impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives, 1988, on
charges of perjury and conspiring to solicit a bribe.

* Walter L. Nixon, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of
Mississippi: Impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives, 1989, on
charges of perjury before a federal grand jury.
