Received this at the office today. Not addressed to anyone -- a fax without any return phone number printed on it. It’s just a spam thing -- has phone numbers that I can’t call to see what it is because I can’t speak for my office or get my office involved. They would ask for MY number and I can’t do that. So, I don’t know who is doing this, but I thought I’d pass it on. (Transcribed as exact as I could make it.) Anyone else receive one of these? Do you think this is the UK or the dems?
How stupid is this....

Looks to me like someone is trying to separate the tinfoil hatters from their money.

U.K. is famous for "Boiler Rooms" that try and take advantage of people and make an easy buck.

The first one I was exposed to was a call from the U.K. that began by dropping the name of our Chairman of the Board in New York. The call to our Mid-West facility went on to say the Chairman had personally asked them to call our purchasing department and request an order for some office supplies. We were told the profits went to the Chairman's favorite charity and this was the reason for his interest.

Another time, we were talked into writing an article about our company and our products for publication in what sounded like a reputable industry trade magazine with massive circulation. I can't remember the name but it was something like "U.K. Food Science and International Purchasing Managers World Digest." Turns out they had a circulation of 150 and the only subscibers were advertisers that paid big money for a subscription.

We didn't get caught-up in either of these deals, but now if someone calls from the U.K. with a proposition, we hang up. As USAFE5 correctly states this is a scam.

It's probably an Al-Qaida fundraiser.

Yes, it's some sort of scam, but what they'll get out of it, I can't see. A person returns the fax at $3.95 per minute -- & it's put on your phone bill? "They" (could be someone not in UK using this company?) want a fax back with a "yes" or "no" -- and then what, they'll send a pile of faxes to Congress saying "No, America did not make the right choice." So what's the point? They say only $3.95 per minute, "a small price to pay for moral values." Do the people voting YES get to buy the same amount of morality as those voting NO?

It's just garbage, as if anyone would respond to this ridiculous thing ... Wait -- I just thought of something. I'll bet they are counting on the dems to respond as they are in dire need and desire right now to vote "again" --- Laughing (I suppose it's just a strange bit of election "folk art"....)

B-1000,
We get these all the time at my office, usually right after something controversial in the news. It's gotta be like one of them '900' numbers where the guy at the other end makes a buck-fifty every time you hit 'send'.
