"Carrot and Stick," This is the "Carrot"
by Col. Bob Pappas, USMC, Ret.

Every time the writer sees, hears or reads about another American becoming a
casualty in Iraq, he cannot help but see the faces of the Democrat
Candidates and their cohorts rising in the plumes of smoke that invariably
accompany a roadside ambush. Those candidates knew, or being smarter than
the rest of us, should have known that the remains of Hussien's defunct
regime and "foreign fighters" were encouraged by their rhetoric. Of course
they did, and they didn't care! Remember, and never forget, the left,
American or otherwise, and the Bathists who are latter day Marxists, have
the same political agenda, permanent acquisition of dictatorial power!

Those Candidates' behavior effectively lent aid and comfort to the enemy and
that has made the security mission more difficult and dangerous for American
servicemen serving in Iraq. It has jeopardized the success of the overall
mission, which of course, is precisely what the Democrat Candidates had
hoped for so they could ride in on their black steed and rescue us from
success. In another era, they would have been charged with treason and
hung, and should have been.

Now that Democrats have so inflamed their leftist base and given aid and
comfort to the enemy, the following is one, but a necessary prescription of
how to stop the "insurgency" abroad and "put a sock in it" at home.

1. Seal off "x" "hotbed" of terrorists, without warning.
2. Evacuate all inhabitants to a compound within sight of the city.
3. Search them for weapons and look at every face.
4. Separate the "sheep" from the "goats" and confiscate their weapons.
5. Provide evacuees with the essentials for survival and health.
6. Treat them humanely and with compassion.
7. Respect their practice of religion and their religious artifacts.
8. Teach them love and respect for themselves and for others (including
women).
9. Explain that harboring terrorists is not in their best interests.
10. Surround the compound with "Guard" pigs.
11. Flatten "x, y, or z" "hotbed."
12. Bring in bulldozers and M-1s and finish the job.
13. Send any remaining resistance to a permanent visit with their "72
virgins."
14. Slaughter the "Guard" pigs and pour their blood over the ruins.
15. Provide evacuees with the tools to rebuild, better, somewhere.
16. Take any little kids who throw stones or anything else into custody and
"screw their heads on straight." (It's too late for their dads and elder
brothers, they get the "virgins.")
17. Repeat as necessary.
18. Their hearts and minds will follow.

Would it work? Guaranteed! Anybody but the writer have the cajones to do it?
We'll see.

Happy 229th Birthday Marines.
