This is great!! Our President is making the U.N. irrelevant.
Why should we funnel our aid through the corrupt U.N. so they can line their own pockets.
Way to go, Mr President!!

(FYI--Clare Short is a lefty who was fired by Tony Blair. Like all leftists.
she is upset that President Bush gets things done without the U.N.)

Pardon me, did she say ONLY THE U.N. HAS THE MORAL AUTHORITY???

Bush 'Undermining UN with Aid Coalition'

By Jamie Lyons, PA Political Correspondent

United States President George Bush was tonight accused of trying to undermine the United Nations by setting up a rival coalition to coordinate relief following the Asian tsunami disaster.

The president has announced that the US, Japan, India and Australia would coordinate the world’s response.

But former International Development Secretary Clare Short said that role should be left to the UN.

“I think this initiative from America to set up four countries claiming to coordinate sounds like yet another attempt to undermine the UN when it is the best system we have got and the one that needs building up,” she said.

“Only really the UN can do that job,” she told BBC Radio Four’s PM programme.

“It is the only body that has the moral authority. But it can only do it well if it is backed up by the authority of the great powers.”

Ms Short said the coalition countries did not have good records on responding to international disasters.

She said the US was “very bad at coordinating with anyone” and India had its own problems to deal with.

“I don’t know what that is about but it sounds very much, I am afraid, like the US trying to have a separate operation and not work with the rest of the world through the UN system,” she added.

After the Oil-For-Food fiasco we're supposed to let them get the chance to skim more money that should be going to aid victims? Not hardly. Let'em wring their hands and whine. It's our money and we have every right to make sure it goes where it was intended to and they have no one to blame but themselves.

BTW. Old Kofi finally showed up and made his first public statement today. How come our beloved press isn't calling him insensitive? No double standard my a$$.

The UN and the liberals just can't get used to a U.S. President with morals, true compassion and a backbone to make decisions to achieve what is good for America and the rest of the world. They're having trouble adjusting to a Real Man who refuses to stoop as low our last president whose main concern was popularity, personal gratification and wealth building.

Ok, dumb question here, but if the UN is the best system we've got, why does it need building up?

Yup, the UN is the best organization to handle this, all right. That's why we had to shove all their ships and planes and choppers out of the way so we could do some good old fashioned grandstanding with our aid to those in need.

The sad thing is those idiot liberals really believe this stuff. Is this the result of the chromosme damage they were warning us about in the sixties?

moral authority?

I roll on the ground laughing my arse off. This is the same organization running protitution and slave trade around the world. This is the same organization which its members have a habit of raping the vulnerable when they arrive on the scene. This is the same organization which caters to the despotic regimes of the world while acting against the capitalist republics. This is the organization which takes money meant for children for food and medicine and lines their pockets with it.

Yes very moral indeed. Lets face it relative to their view of us as being the spawn of satan they are accurate. Moral indeed.
