Yet another repetition of specious anti-SVPT mantra. Not familiar with this website (by this article I would assume it's left-leaning). What this country needs is an in-depth post-election analysis book that has the guts to penetrate the Kerry facade. His house-of-cards is teetering but not yet fallen.

Michael Dobbs, how 'bout it?

Quote:
Kerry's Last Flip-Flop
By Sam Parry
January 6, 2005

<snip>

Democrats saw the same timidity when Kerry and his campaign advisers thought they could earn brownie points from the major news media by running a largely positive, issues-based campaign in 2004. To take the high road, Kerry’s advisers even excised criticism of Bush from speeches delivered at the Democratic National Convention, but all Kerry got for that was a rare “bounce-less” convention.

Bush and his advisers also had no intention of following Kerry on that high road. Pro-Bush attack groups, such as the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, aired dishonest ads accusing Kerry of lying about his war record. Kerry’s aides were shocked when big news outlets such as CNN rushed to play up those attacks.

When Republicans turned the GOP Convention into a Kerry-bash – complete with Purple Heart band-aids to mock Kerry’s war wounds – the media largely fell silent or marveled at the skillfulness of the negativity, rather than make Bush pay any price.

'Bring It On?'

To the disappointment of many Democrats, John Kerry who challenged the Bush dirty tricksters to “bring it on” early in the campaign didn’t get mad when he had every reason to denounce the smears against his service in Vietnam and the criticism of his principled protests of the war once he returned.

If there was ever a time for a straight-talking speech to the American people about how the Republicans play dirty politics, that was it. Instead, Kerry asked Bush to join him in urging supporters to refrain from negative advertising. Kerry even called on pro-Kerry groups to pull ads criticizing Bush’s ducking of service in the Texas Air National Guard. Bush, however, never specifically disavowed the anti-Kerry Swift boat ads.

A Washington Post analysis of Election 2004’s campaign financing concluded that the first Swift boat ad – accusing Kerry of lying to get war medals – was one of the key moments of the campaign as well as one of the most cost-effective attacks on Kerry. Sam Parry's thoughts reveal the sad state of mind of the many from the other side. Furthermore, his ideas are simply gleaned from others of like mind because he does not want to know certain truths. This is just 'cut and paste' journalism and I want to expect much more from journalists. Parry should spend time understanding the issues rather than throwing up a loads of bogus observation to conclusions banter with out any investigation. For example, if one understands why purple hearts are given, then Kerry is clearly undeserving of the first and last purple hearts. But he can expend much effort on a the 'Contra Cocaine' incident. (Sounds to me that Parry did not like Reagan or North, but instead Ortega). Anyway, how about Parry putting some effort into finding the truth about Kerry's testimony about Vietnam? Opps, but Parry cannot be fair to both sides!!!
Kerry has had army of lawyers looking over the election results in Ohio and the vote plurality was not close at 118,000 votes. The election in Ohio should have been won by Bush by a larger margin. (It has been said that the Democrats tend to get a 1% inflated vote through irregularities. King County in Washington state may be a good example of a highly populated Democratic county that cannot manage the election process and therefore is open to fraud. I am from Illinois and I wish that the Cook country election system would be managed properly, But it won't because the Democrats in power in Cook county like a system that can be manipulated) In Ohio, let us address MoveOnOrg's plan to suppress voting in certain heavily Republican districts by holding up lines during day. How about the tactics of Michael Moore on election day? How about the Democrat involvement with court decisions to let provisional ballots to be accepted more widely and causing confusion right before the election day? How about the registration of voters right before the election, many to be fictitious? How about those that are registered to vote in both Florida and Ohio? Unfortunately for us, I believe that Parry, Jackson, and Conyers only want to win elections, this stunt by Barbara Boxer is the just the latest attempt by a small group of people that do not want to be confused by the fact that Bush won Ohio.
Kerry is right to want to look at the election processes-if he is really serious. Let us clean up the data bases before each election cycle, start enforcing election rules about intimidation at polling places, destroy ballots that are spoiled and rejected, train poll workers better, and unfortunately the Kerry bunch can watch the righteous side win even more elections.

"Kerry even called on pro-Kerry groups to pull ads criticizing Bush’s ducking of service in the Texas Air National Guard. Bush, however, never specifically disavowed the anti-Kerry Swift boat ads. "

That does not hold water following the CBS-Camp Kerry connections or his willingness to try to use that fake info soon after CBS released it.

I'd say that particular commentator is more than just a little myopic.

While Kerry was asking Bush to denounce the swifties, did he denounce moveon, or Michael Moron or the lies that were on his side?? No, and the reason is he knew the swifties were telling the truth and the truth hurts so much more.
