The recent release of the Italian Communist reporter has led me to reflect on a few interesting points. First off, I find it interesting that the MSM calls this Communist a reporter, yet if you happen to be gay and right leaning you are booted from the white house briefings and vilified throughout the MSM. I always thought the left cared about the gay community, yet this is just another example of people being useful idiots by the radical left.

Second, since the supply convoy was ambushed early in the Iraq war we have had only one American soldier captured hostage. We soon discovered this soldier was of the plastic Mattel kind as opposed to the fighting back kind. The MSN has inundated us with many stories of military men being rash and possibly murderers by killing the enemy in what they view as pre-meditation as opposed to ‘proper’ reactionary measures. If the enemy doesn’t act right the soldiers training is their pre-meditation, yet this is lost on the intellectually bankrupt. The Mogadishu incident has always been fascinating to me and it is important to reflect on it in regards to our current wars. It sheds light on many issues which are pertinent on many levels to the war we face today and how it is conducted by our military and politicians. The operation mission was to capture the warlord Adid using a Ranger task force to secure a 4 point perimeter at the target building and Delta Force operators doing the extraction. Adid’s thugs had been trained by Al Qaeda on how to respond to any American missions during the day using road blocks and RPG’s and was lying in wait for this mission. The mission soon went to hell and was made worse by our then ‘rules of engagement’. Ranger Captain Steele was in command of the force and for 30 minutes tried to get permission from General Garrison for shoot to kill. They had been instructed under no circumstance could you fire your weapon in the direction of an innocent and only in instances where there is line of sight on a target firing upon you. This became asinine with the Adid thugs using women and children as shields the rangers began taking casualties. General Garrison was a deer caught in headlights and Caption Steele was following orders. There has been debate about Garrison during this 30 minute period of time attempting to get authorization to kill women and children from the white house, yet Clinton and the secretary of defense were unavailable. Imagine that happening with our current administration. This wouldn’t happen even if Bush and Rumsfeld were not available; Wolfiwitz could and would make the call. Eventually, one of the Operators made the call to shoot to kill everything in sight and thus turned the tide. Most military people view this battle as one of the greatest military victories the world has ever seen even though we lost many. But, it took a change in the rules of engagement for us to minimize loss of life and the military made the decision in the field because we had an impotent leader in the white house.

In conclusion, the reason for no military hostages since that initial convoy was captured is due primarily to a change in the rules of engagement and a better understanding of our enemy. Our enemy is scared to hell of the American soldier and they know if they approach a US soldier without permission they will be dead. This is a cowardly enemy who has resorted to capturing women (Communist sympathizers at that) and using our useful idiots here at home to wage war with us.
