"VATICAN CITY — Pope John Paul II may have to return to the hospital to have a feeding tube inserted, an Italian news agency reported today. It stressed that no decision had been made"

This is illustrative of the fact that a feeding tube is not anything like
a respirator and should not be considered as "artificial life support".
The Pope may require this as a temporary measure to improve his
nutrition while he is having problems swallowing.

I am not a nurse, but I am a Medical Technologist who has worked in
several hospitals. I have seen patients on feeding tubes who probably
could swallow, but were too weak to feed themselves. The feeding tube
in those cases was a convenience for the hospital employees who did not
have time to spend hours feeding these patients by mouth.

In Terri's case, there is a real likelihood that she could have learned to
swallow enough to get nutrition by mouth if Michael had permitted it. Her
family would have been willing to spend the hours that it would have
taken. Michael did not want Terri to learn to eat again because he had
been planning on removing her feeding tube for years.

I think if a feeding tube is to be removed the attempt should be made
to see if the patient can receive food and water by mouth. After all,
that is what they do when they take someone off the respirator. If they
can not breathe on their own, they die within minutes. If they can, I
hope that the "guardian" is not standing by with a pillow to make sure
that they die anyway.

Some moonbat called the Ingraham Show to say Terri deserved to die. She went on to say the Pope was too old and sick and likewise should be killed.

I think all the much quoted polling data referencing 'moral values' obscures the basic human decency that rejects the deceit, and blinding hate that informs the "Progressives".

I hope all the (protesters) can carpool together, because there are thousands of people in the same situation at any given time. But, if I find myself in that place I pray to anyone that will listen- keep jesse jackson away from me!

I was Micheal Savage who on his radio show yesterday said that God was giving us a message, with both Terri and John Paul II on feeding tubes at the same time and only a moron cannot see the signs.

I thinking that too. I don't believe in coincidences.
