Anti-Minuteman site promoting sabotage
Calls participants 'white-hooded vigilantes,' Internet provider threatens to shut down page

Calling Minuteman Project [ http://www.minutemanproject.com/ ] participants "hyper-patriotic bigots," a new website is encouraging Americans to harass those involved in stemming illegal immigration on the Arizona-Mexico border.

The website - http: //www.swarmtheminutemen.com/ - is urging people to go to the desert border area to confuse and harass the Minuteman volunteers with actions such as blasting radios or banging pots and pans together.

"People might bring their friends, bring a radio, bring some pots and pans," the site suggests. "You will most likely get harassed by the border patrol, but if the Minutemen are allowed to be out there then so are you. The border patrol may try to tell you that you have to leave, but they have no jurisdiction over legal U.S. residents and so people might be polite, humor them if possible, but not let them scare them off."

The site commends those who are sabotaging the Minuteman Project, calling its participants "modern-day, white-hooded vigilantes."

States the site: "We must let the Minutemen and the world know what people really think of their violent, racist plans. People are swarming the Minutemen and stoping [sic] this organized racism and hatred in its tracks."

Swarmtheminutemen.com further suggests people call the Minuteman Project office to tie up staff time: "We hear some people are calling them over and over and pretending to be a different person each time."

There also is an e-mail campaign in which people are sending "very large attachments like high-resolution pictures or long documents about civil rights or the many ways to prepare bananas" – hoping to fill up Minuteman Project e-mail boxes.

The site includes a way to anonymously provide organizers "your favorite tactic for sabotaging the Minutemen Project."

At the bottom of each page describing possible harassment projects, the site states, apparently as a disclaimer: "Of course we don't suggest that you actually DO any of this, we're just sharing information. We really don't think you should do any of these things, you silly 'communist/anarchist/criminal reactionary!'"

Meanwhile, the site's Internet provider, Scottsdale-based Go Daddy, has warned it will shut down Swarmtheminutemen.com due to a policy violation, unless the incitement to harassment stops, the East Valley Tribune of Scottsdale, Ariz., reported.

The Minuteman Project's border operations manager, Gary Cole, said the organization has filed a complaint with the FBI but interference so far has been only a "minor annoyance."

Bill Bennett, office administrator at the Tumbleweed newspaper owned by Minuteman co-founder Chris Simcox, said, "We've gotten a lot of harassment calls. Basically what they're doing is just trying to keep us on the phone."

The Minutemen, named after U.S. War of Independence militia group in New England, is made up of civilians from across the United States, many of them retired servicemen or law enforcement personnel.

The volunteers are guarding a 23-mile stretch of the border where one out of every five of the 1.1 million illegal immigrants arrested last year crossed into the U.S., according to Border Patrol statistics. They report illegal crossers to the Border Patrol rather than confront or detain illegal aliens themselves. The website co-ordinating their operations is www.MinuteManHQ.com

According to the Tribune, the anti-Minutemen site claims knowledge of people who intend to "physically interfere with their operations. ... They will go wherever the Minutemen are in their area and stop them from operating."

Nick Fuller, communications manager for the Go Daddy Group, said Swarmtheminutemen.com has been on the Web for less than a week.

As WND reported, ACLU activists shadowing the Minuteman Project http://www.minutemanproject.com/ are actively aiding and abetting aliens attempting to enter the country illegally, according to a spokesman for the volunteer civilian force.

Grey Deacon told Joseph Farah's nationally syndicated "WorldNetDaily RadioActive" audience that ACLU monitors sent to the border to watch Minuteman activity and report civil-liberties abuses to authorities were flashing lights, sounding horns and warning off illegals and their "coyote" human smugglers from entering territory patrolled by the volunteers.

"They are actively engaging in criminal activity," said Deacon.
