Sorry for the whine I guess my nose is out of joint for being rejected by the American Legion.

CWV, the dates of you service under you signature say 75-79.

IF you were on active duty prior to 7 May 75, then you are eligible.

My understanding about the American Legion is that membership is open to those whose service dates where during times of war. Like my father who served as a cook 53'-54' and never left the States qualifies for membership. Since his service dates included the Korean War. Understandably he would not qualify for the VFW because he never went over seas. However the American Legion does not consider the Cold War as war time so I am not eligible for membership. So my question is if the Cold War was not a war what should we refer to it as?
