On 6/21/05 I sent an email to WI senators Feingold and Kohl asking them to take a position on Durbin's flag day Guantanamo Bay comments. I have yet to hear from Feingold.

Thank you for taking the time to contact me with your
concerns. I value the input I get from people back home in
Wisconsin, and would like to take this opportunity to address your
concerns.

During last week's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing
regarding detainees held at Guantanamo Bay, Senator Richard
Durbin (D-IL) was criticized for his remarks on the treatment of
prisoners at U.S. detention facilities.

Senator Durbin has a long and distinguished career as a
public servant. On Tuesday June 21, 2005, Senator Durbin
apologized at length on the senate floor for his comments and his
apology has been accepted by the Senate. I encourage you to
examine his statement at
http://durbin.senate.gov/record.cfm?id=239278. I look forward to
working with Senator Durbin in the future, especially on issues
most important to Wisconsin.

That looks very much like the one I got from my Democrat Senator.

Mine went so far as to stand up for Durbin's patriotism (oh, puh-leeze!) and concern for our military members. (I guess my dim-bulb actually bought those crocodile tears after Durbin realized that he'd stepped on his own ___ )

And there's no way to reply back other than going back to the web mail form and submitting another comment - not a very good way of encouraging a dialogue.

It's time that these people learned who sent them to those seats of power and who has the power to bring them right back home.
