April 1st was a really bad day for me. That was the day when I found my wife of 43 years dead on her dining room floor of a massive heart attack.

So I've had a week of crying jags and another week of just plain sadness.
Then I buried her in the family plot and have spent the last two weeks getting the house straightened up and just plain getting used to living in a quiet house and adjusting to being single.

I went to a fish fry this evening at a local sportsman's club with my #1 kid, #1 SinL, two grandkids, and #1 SinL's folks. Great time with good catfish and walleye.

Next Friday, I'm puting it on the road and heading to Ft. Campbell to visit my #2 kid and her Infantryman husband not to mention #1, #7, #8, and the still in the hanger (3 on the flight deck and 1 in the hanger) #9 grandkids. Time to get back in the world again.

Snipe,

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It is an inevitable part of life, but hard to accept anyway. Take it one day at a time and reach out to your friends. Sounds like you're already on the right track.

Snipe, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. It is never easy.

I think visiting the kids and their families is good for you. They need you as much as you need them right now.

My deepest sympathies to you all.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry. You must be reeling - 43 years together and suddenly, she's gone. What a terrible blow. Sad

The others are right though - going to visit family and talking with friends can be a big help when you've been devastated like this.

My sincere condolences - I wish I could do something to help.

I pray that you will soon remember only the good times and that sweet memories will come to comfort you. May the Lord bless you and keep you.

My sincerest condolences, Phil. Sounds like a good time to spend some time with the kids and grandkids. Theres nothing like family to get you through tough times.
