Obama stops wearing American flag pin
Presidential candidate says he will show patriotism by expressing his ideas

WATERLOO, Iowa - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, D-Ill., said he will no longer wear an American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for “true patriotism” since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

It may have been out of place on his collar and he felt uncomfortable wearing it. Who knows?

Any presidential aspirant who is uncomfortable with our flag should never become president.

It got him back in the news didn't it?

I saw this as a very amateurish, childish ploy to garner some press time. He will use ANY tool to do that and this definitely is no real surprise. Keep in mind, Obama is a sound-bite leach so he'll go for one using any means necessary.

Although the removal of the flag pin is meant to appeal to the communist base, he is a "True Believer."

Obama — not your grandfather’s kind of patriot/s

click to see pic from Time.com -- where's his hand?

The man who would be President/CIC, won't wear the Flag pin, and, and it seems, also can't/won't pay usual respect during the anthem... words fail me, he is so nonchalant in that pic..

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. -- United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171 [1]

And no hand over the heart or any other sign of respect during the Pledge of Allegiance

Think we need a link. If true, well I do not think any one will vote for him before this or after this. He is just a temp darling for the media. He is a black American going no where in politics as far as the Presidency. He is like Jessie Jackson, good press but no substance. Where does he stand on any thing except the war. He did not vote for it and now he has to live with it. He is nothing except to the LSM to talk about and then they will turn of him.

Jack...that Newsbusters' link is sourced to the Time.com link in my post. Newsbusters updated their story-- it was the national anthem , not the pledge (tho either is just as bad)

here's the link to the original posting/pic at Time if anyone wants to pass it around...

The caption is interesting...(emphasis mine)

Quote:

Given the juxtaposition of Obama v. the other 3 subjects, this caption writer has a remarkable grasp for the obvious.

I'm also wondering what his reaction might have been had he caught a glimpse of his associates on the platform during the playing of the anthem.
