UK Court Identifies Eleven Inaccuracies in Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’

--The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

--The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.

--The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.

--The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.

--The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

--The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

--The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

--The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

--The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

--The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

--The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

Sheesh, THE FLIM-FLAM MAN:
Academy Award, Nobel Peace Prize,.....the Democrat Party Nomination??

If we need proof that we live in a fairy tale world, just watch the life and times of Al Gore as it unfolds.
Instead of the Nobel Peace Prize, they should have given him the 'Teller of the Biggest Whopper' prize.

These people could care less about humanity or morality as the peace prize is supposed to recognize. They were against Iraq being freed from Sadaam and did nothing to protect the innocent women and children of Africa who have been raped mutilated and killed in genocide fashion over the last 10 years. Just think they now call attention to Dafur and the Muslims being killed there, yet said nothing when over a million Tutsis died in Rawanda and over a million christians died in the southern Sudan.

And they give this award for a man who has done what in his life? What has Al Gore done to better the human race? Nothing

He was complicit as VP of an administration which let millions die in Africa. What a sad affair the Nobel has become.

Eventually a conservative will die and leave their money to a new foundation, which will counteract the Nobel committee's leftist ideology.

I've been saying for months now that Algore will be the democrat nominee for President. The tip off was when he started shedding the pounds.

That an opportunistic politican as Gore should receive this "prize" over the works of 97 year old Irena Sendler, credited with saving over 2500 Jewish Children from the Warsaw Ghetto during WW2 and for keeping her silence of them after her capture and torture convinces me even more of the "prize" is nothing more than another leftist agenda oriented group.

Hmmmm. Gore, Arafat, Carter. I'm certainly glad that it's awarded in Oslo. My Grandparents on my Mom's side were from Sweden. Heh.

Very Happy

Al Gore and the Triumph of Ignorance

The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Al Gore represents the triumph of ignorance. The award cannot be because of a lack of more deserving individuals.

If the Committee wanted to honor Americans it could have rewarded the efforts of Nick and George Clooney along with others on behalf of the unfortunate residents of Darfur? Then there are the efforts of former Presidents George H.W. Bush and William Clinton to help the victims of the Asian tsunami. There is ample precedent for awarding the peace prize for efforts to help refugees.

The decision to give Gore and the IPCC the peace prize instead of the physics prize demonstrates that the Nobel Committee at least recognizes that so-called “greenhouse gases” and “global warming” do not involve valid science. If global warming involved valid science than the physics prize would be the most appropriate prize not the peace prize.

But of course, greenhouse gases cannot qualify for the physics prize because “there is no atmospheric greenhouse effect, in particular CO2-greenhouse effect, in theoretical physics and engineering thermodynamics. Thus it is illegitimate to deduce predictions which provide a consulting decision for economic and intergovernmental policy.” (Dr. Gerhard Gerlich and Ralf D. Tscheuschner - “Falsification of the Atmospheric Greenhouse Effects Within the Framework of Physics”) http://www.arxiv.org/PS_cache/arxiv/pdf/0707/0707.1161v2.pdf

Professor Bjame Andresen of the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Professor Christopher Essex of the University of Western Ontario and Professor Ross McKitrick of the University of Guelph(Canada) agree with Gerlich that the idea of a meaningful global temperature is mathematically impossible so the claim of global warming is invalid.

We won’t know if something that can qualify as “global warming” is occurring until someone does some real math to confirm it. This math should focus more on ground and water temperatures which tend to change slowly instead of focusing on erratic air temperatures.

A British court has ruled that many of the claims Al Gore made in his movie are invalid.

Gore and Co. have blamed melting of Arctic sea ice on global warming but the evidence indicates the Arctic oscillation is blowing Arctic sea ice out through the Fram Strait between Norway and Greenland and the Pacific Oscillation is moving warmer waters to the vicinity of the Bering Strait where it is then drawn into the Arctic Ocean to replace the water that left as ice.

Al Gore and the IPCC mistakenly view earth’s energy system as being very simple involving heat and radiation. Earth’s energy system is complex. For example, when water converts heat energy into latent heat to evaporate it reduces water temperature without raising air temperature. As water vapor rises in the atmosphere its temperature drops as it converts heat energy into potential energy.

When water vapor condenses in the atmosphere its latent heat may warm the surrounding air. If water freezes and falls as hail its potential energy is converted to kinetic energy which can damage objects on the ground. The potential energy water still possesses after it falls may be converted into electrical energy at a hydroelectric dam.

Humans may be impacting climate, but it has nothing to do with CO2 emissions. Urban heat islands are one of the results of the tremendous amount of heat generated by human activity. Desertification can result from clearing forests. Construction of dams and draining of wetlands may have an impact on local climate. Gore and the IPCC have diverted attention from these ways humans might impact climate to ways humans cannot impact climate.
