Lotsa water yet to flow over the political dam, but this has got to be encouraging news for the McCain campaign...

Rassmussen Reports

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows the race for the White House is tied with Barack Obama and John McCain each attracting 44% of the vote. However, when "leaners" are included, it’s McCain 47% and Obama 46%.

This is the first time McCain has enjoyed even a statistically insignificant advantage of any sort since Obama clinched the Democratic nomination on June 3 (see recent daily results).

Be thankful for the electoral college. Obama support is concentrated in a handful of big Liberal cesspools in a few of the large states, and he has well over 90% of the black vote, so national popular vote polling keeps the race tight. What is the electoral college tally? Note that Obama failed to win the important states in the primaries once the curtain was pulled back partway on his associations such as Rev Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, Ayers, et al, and soon a flood of other skeletons fell out of his closet.

If McCain wins, it will be by taking small margins in a lot of states and then winning the swing states, again by small margins, while losing by double digits in the Liberal bastions.

Another pivot by Obama. This guy changes direction faster than a weathervane in a whirlwind.
In his big energy speech today he called for release of oil from our reserves.
Jim Geraghty points to what he had to say just last month.
I guess he now sees a "grave emergency" (his dropping poll numbers).

Draining the Strategic Reserves would be about as effective in solving the oil shortage situation as draining your lawnmower's sump and using it to top off your car if it registered a quart low. Maybe we should tap the national Helium reserves to inflate our tires, too. Not to worry, Pelosi and company are off on vacation working out details on how to save the planet.
