IMHO, this "executive order" is pure pablum for public consumption. It will be most interesting to watch as Obama attempts to reconcile his own campaign demagoguery with the realities of confronting "Islamic Supremacy" (a term Taranto suggests in lieu of "War on Terror").

No surprise here. Obama, like the last democrat president is/was a lawyer (I will not comment on either's ineptness). So, when they use the phrase 'prosecute the war on terror' they mean just that. They'll take them to a U.S. court.

What becomes of those in custody now once they 'touch' U.S. soil is going to be a travesty. Unless someone sharp comes along and challenges what rights they actually have, they'll not only get their day in court - they'll get the podium on which to spout their beliefs.

Hmmm, wild scenario - they get their sentences commuted by the sitting president.

Effective prosecution in a US court is all but impossible considering the sensitive info that would be released. This Obama move does not enhance our security, it puts us at risk for the sake of politics. That ought to be treasonous.

I think we all suspected that Obama was going to be a major screw up....sure isn't taking long for him to prove it.

Now when we capture an enemy we can ask name, rank, serial no. and date of birth and would you like a cup of coffee and donuts SIR?

Might as well cancel the daily intelligence briefing....there isn't going to be any.

And insanity rules.
